Our room was noise proof so that contributed to a wonderful sleep, also very good A/C. And the mini fridge was a definite need for our family. We were thankful it was provided in the room.

Excellent service and location. It is my first time in India and Hotel Cecil helped me navigate Kolkata and India! The staff is friendly and resourceful. The rooms and clean and homey. The location is unparalleled. While it is my first time in India, I am a frequent traveler and know a good location when I experience one! The neighborhood is unique and exciting with plenty to do right outside the entrance. Also a short ride to airport/train stations. Transportation is easy with metro, walking or ride hailing apps. Lastly, breakfast was so good! There is no shared dining space, rather, it is delivered to your door at a specified time. I loved it! Will definitely return on my next trip to India.

A floor carpet would have been better, as replacement of isolated mats. Window sound- proofing would be great to ward of traffic noise.

Located near a noisy street. There is no lift in the hotel.

“Budget hotel near the Calcutta University and Medical Colleague.”

The waster heater is my room was not working on arrival and it took more than one day to fix it. Until that I did not have warm bath, but the owners allowed me to have a shower in a different room. My bathroom was very small with a small sink and I missed a curtain or shower cabin to not make the whole bathroom under water for a long time. I also missed napkins from the breakfast. The quality of coffee the noise from the crowded street and polluted air were also unpleasant. Maybe a better insulation of windows could help a bit. There is a strong smell in the drawers and wardrobe coming from an insect or rodent repellent, which remains in the clothes for a long time.
Close location to the University of Calcutta. The breakfast a la carte was a bit spicy, but good. The bed was comfortable, AC working well. The staff was friendly and helpful. They provided vary late chek-in and airport transfer to the hotel.

Nothing! It was all good.
My "go to" place to stay in Kolkata. It was coming towards the end of Diwali and the hotel kindly gave me a room away from the street as a large number of noisy processions were heading down the road towards the river. Check in was speedy and efficient as usual and the room spotless.

We had a nice stay in the lovely hotel, room and bathroom is very clean, location is good, easy to get to everywhere by Uber, small stores near by, near the colleges and universities, and a famous street for books. The manager and staff very helpful and nice, they try their best to help you on everything. Thank you very much for taking good care of us.

The room was a little bit too small for two people.

Never judge a book by its cover! From the outside the hotel doesn’t appear top drawer, but once through the door the welcome and service provided by ALL staff was excellent. The room was clean, a good size and drinks / nibbles on the house were regularly topped up. With a great location for seeing the City, and excellent value for money we would use the Hotel Cecil again.

The mattress should be little hard. Soft mattress is not healthy.There should be an Entrance board on the main road.

The buzzer for the rooms are really loud and scare the life out of you! They should get rid of them and knock instead!
The staff at this hotel were very attentive and welcoming, the shower was hot and amazing and the bed was sooo comfortable. Breakfast was delivered to our room every morning and the staff went out of their way to cater to us. For example, they provided us plates and cutlery for our food delivery as we got in so late and the restaurants had closed. Room was exceptionally clean and location was perfect, right in the centre and close to the metro. You can’t tell how nice the hotel is from the outside but once you’re in, you can! Staff were helpful in helping us to photocopy our passports to get a visa to the north east, so thank you! We would highly recommend this hotel, the price is worth it.
