It's a mini world of its own out there!
Come for the calm, peace and doing things at your own pace if solo traveling. If with friends, there are plenty of things to do as well. There are plenty of food options (non-vegetarian would be much less since it's a holy, religious spot). Cafes and restaurants abound! Random shopping for knick knacks and 'hippie' clothing is sorted. My favourite bit remains the serenity at the quiet spots at the river bank. Go and just inhale and exhale. Take a dip or two. Swimming is to be cautious and it's good there are regular announcements for visitors' safety as one shouldn't underestimate the calm flow of the huge river Ganges is. Rafting should be done if going for the first time. I haven't done it a second time around in my other two times there but would be game to check out the other adventure activities maybe next time. Maybe I should plan a longer trip and do indulge in yoga and all as it'll only be good for the body and soul. Another good thing is that if one plans, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Haridwar are all nearby. It's a great idea to get a two wheeler on rent as that makes mobility great.

Many years ago it used to be a good place to experience real indian Ashram life and you could meet quite a few spiritually impressive teachers and Swamis. You could sit quietly at the Ganges and join one of the many Kirtans in the evening. Prices reflected that atmosphere and time would pass quickly when you immersed yourself in that lifestyle.
But that time has long disappeared and nowadays it lives only on reputation from those days.
Everything is about money, even the Ashrams are now run as commercial enterprises and the quality of the teachings is mediocre at best.
You can get better Yoga training in most cities in the west.
There are lot of westerners having based themselves here to teach and rake in the money from naive tourists. Even the sadhus that would roam the streets have disappeared.
A lot that is being sold comes from China and everywhere there are Ayurvedic clinics and Well-being Spas and bad Latte's or cappuccinos cost as much as in the west.
Plastic pollution is really bad.
Check out McLeod Ganj, they are doing a bit better managing their heritage and nature surroundings.
Cheers

Rishikesh is a great place for tourists to stay.
Rishikesh is a great place for tourists to stay. It combines the warmth of Indian culture, nature, adventure sports, good cafes and restaurants, and choices for accommodations. It is known for its Ashrams more than temples

On second day of stay we have visited Neer Waterfall,Which is great option to go.First day we went on triveni ghat for evening aarti and that was very goof experience . Also visited Neelkanth Mahadev Temple which is a great place to visit.Ramjhula and Lakshman Jula are great places to visit.Do not park your car on road side as high chances of challan by traffic police. If you want to have food like home , you may go approx two km away from tapovan. You may find good food on reasonable prices.

The beauty and majesty of nature is seriously showcased here with a strong undercurrent of spirituality. If you’re also interested in the ancient Vedic scriptures and its glorious tales of the Gods, you can feel it here. Also science has proven the value of bathing in the Ganges which is un polluted at this point of the river which is close to the source. For the more adventurous folks, there is mountain climbing, bungee jumping, and rafting in the river which has some rapids.

HOT - House of Travellers Rishikesh
Location is near Deecon Valley. Take the right road, the last building in that road.
They had Techno party on Saturday. Entry fees INR 300. They also had Tennis Table in the living area
They have 2 buildings. Stay could be in either. The building has water supply issues. No water in my bathroom. It was a off thing to reach the hotel in such summers and get no waters in taps. Staff fixed it after raising.
Room was clean and tidy.
Did not try food. Not even saw the menu.
Overall 4/5.
Our stay at Bonfire Hotel near Rishikesh's secret waterfall was total paisa vasool, . The room was super cozy, perfect for chilling. But what really made it lit was the staff, especially the kind-hearted uncle, who treated us like long-lost buddies.
Bonfire Hotel is a total jackpot, The price to stay was way better than other hotels nearby, making it a total steal. If you're looking for a chill vibe and budget-friendly stay near Rishikesh's secret spots, Bonfire Hotel is the place.
The best hotel I've stayed at in Rishikesh. It is always clean and the staff are very respectful and helpful. It is very safe for female solo travelers. You have the Parmarth ashram right next door and access to the river Ganges. Plenty of places to eat at and get supplies. There is always staff available 24/7. I extended my stay. Hot water is available and so is laundry facilities.
Clean spacious Room, beautiful bathroom, cool room freshener, cute reception area, overall a a good and beautiful property!
Loved everything!
It's a new property and very well build.
We were lucky on 24 th Dec Night full meal was on the house for all the customers.
The stay is also affordable compare to other good hotels around. I booked just for 1620/- for a night.
Has beautiful rooms at a very nice location in tapovan and was available at a very reasonable price as compared to other nearby hotels in Tapovan. We came here after looking into 5 other hotels and found it comfortable.
The food at restaurant is also really good and we ended up ordering in row. It's very much value the price. Overall a 5 star experience
Mr. Pradeep along with his staff accommodated us very well being a female travelling with a child. We felt safe and comfortable with the arrangements n tours he had organized. The food at hotel is amazing. Being a fairly new hotel I hope they keep maintaining the clean standards and services. Will definitely come back when visiting rishikesh .
The property is beautifully designed and well maintained.I come to rishikesh often and I really think this is the best hotel I’ve stayed in Asia. The property had everything I needed in my room!. I had the best sunrise river view from my room which always was my favorite time of day to relax and enjoy this beautiful city from my room
The location is very good and close to all the good restaurants and shops. The breakfast was very tasty but there should have been more options for breakfast. The best thing is that the staff were always serving hot food. The ambience of having food at the terrace was excellent. I would love to come back to the same hotel in future.
we loved the views here. the restaurant was really, really good too. the ayurvedic spa and treatments were quite good and left us totally glowing from within. We totally had the Rishikesh look after the treatments. we loved how close the property was to Ram Jhula and how quiet and serene everything is once inside ….
Just ok if you are not finding a decent hotel in Rishikesh . Food was just ok . Rooms and washroom were decent for a low budget hotel . It's a Rs.4000 per night kind of property but charges go to 9000 + taxes when full .
Bright large room with corner windows. Overall spacious feeling. Adequate washroom. Located on the main road to Haridwar. Next to Janki Jhula and triveni ghat. Friendly service .Definitely recommend for a budget hotel.
Such a beautiful place 🥰
Location was awesome 👏🏻
Food and hotel staff are very nice 😊
I suggest that if anyone going to Rishikesh (Bachelor’s or couples or family) they have to stay…
We are stay at this hotel sometimes .The cost of rooms is quite high for this area of Rishikesh, but rooms are cozy, especially those with a balcony overlooking the Ganges and Laxmanjula.
Exceeded my expectations! Superb room comparing to all other hotels in Rishikesh. The drawer even has a built in light (while standard in high end places I was not expecting that here).
Tatsat Hotel offers a delightful stay, making it the perfect destination for those seeking to savor the lush landscapes of Rishikesh while having a wonderful time with loved ones.
Peaceful location, cozy rooms and really kind and helpful staff 👍
I recommend this place if you look for higher standard room than others average hotels in Rishikesh.
