The main attraction is the national park, where there are a lot of options for more or less demanding activities from a gentle boat trip to a two-day hike through the jungle. The rangers are brilliant. in town there are restaurants ranging from cheap to high-end, elegant handicraft shops, elephant parks, ayurvedic massage places - whatever you fancy, really. The weather is benign, as it's quite elevated. Transport connections (by bus) are pretty good from the central bus station. There are also western-style cafes where you can hang out and read; Wildernest is green and peaceful, while Chrissie's even has cappuccino!

It's a calm and serene destination, not like other hill stations.
I am a regular at Grandma's kitchen. It's a simple place nothing fancy but great local food. Kumily / Thekkady is not a huge place so getting around is easy. It's a cozy little town to chill if you don't want to run around sightseeing

Thekkady can be explored in two to three days.
Thekkady can be explored in two to three days. Enjoy nature walk but sighing of animals is very rare. There are huge trees which are appx 500 years old.
Travelers can enjoy local cuisine and elephant ride. There is opportunity to watch Kalaripayattu ( martial art) and Kathakali performance.

Absolutely stands as a demonstration for the saying “God’s own country”. Serene and bountiful of nature and some good species of wild life. The Thekkady boat trip is a ‘never-miss’ activity and the early morning off-roading trip in Mahindra Commander SUV 🚙 is phenomenal. Great place for a vacation with family and friends. One of the treasures ie the Periyar Tiger Reserve Forest. Don’t miss. I just crossed off one number in my bucket list. But beware of scammers. They are all over there.

The boat ride was a good experience as we spotted elephants, gaur, deer, wild boar and monkeys. The boat jetty should have better facilities as the crowds can be difficult to navigate for the elderly and small children.
The location of this property is outstanding in Thekkady, away from traffic noise and disturbances. Also you can see greenery around you. Breakfast was excellent, specially Puttu.. they make warm my toasts and also provided tea without sugar on my request.
Staff is excellent, specially Amose, who helped us a lot by arranging conveyance for my next stay inside forest, guiding me for activities nearby etc.
You can walk to main market and do shopping and watch Kalari and dance show.
We had a comfortable stay at Sopanam Heritage
Rooms are nice and clean, staff is helpful
We really like Mr Lawrence's hospitality and support throughout
He helped in finding out the best possible Elephant rides, Ayurvedic message with discounted rates
He is really humble and eager to help his guests
I strongly recommend Sopanam Heritage if you are not looking for luxury and spend quality time with your loved ones with affordable rates
A new hotel in a prime location! The staff was exceptional! Food at the restaurant was solid. If you are visiting Periyar National Park and have signed up for the nature trails or hikes, the meeting spot is actually outside of the park, walking distance from this hotel. We made the mistake of staying inside the park - wouldn’t recommend it. Accommodations were over double the cost of Keys and pales in comparison
I recently stayed at a homestay in Thekkady, and it was a truly peaceful retreat. Surrounded by nature's beauty, this homestay offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cozy accommodations and warm hospitality made our stay memorable. Whether you're looking to explore the wildlife or simply unwind in a tranquil setting, this homestay is the perfect choice for a relaxing getaway.
This is probably the best affordable stay at Thekkady. Mr. Suresh, the host, was very accommodating and, at every stage of the visit offered us help. The room balcony overlooks a small patch of a garden covered with dense trees of mango and avocado. There is a roof top spacious dining area with hammocks and wooden swings. The rooms were clean and tidy. I will definitely stay there again for my next visit.
We had stay here for 2 nights with family. Nice stay with good accomodation, budget room, all facilities as well as we prepared noodles, tea, coffee at terrace belong our room. Owner of homestay were so helpful and so frendly with us. The y also pick up from bus stand and also drop there. I recommened this homestay for those who want to visit thekkady.
This one of the best property to stay in Thekkady. The owner and his family are very sweet and helpful. They guided us for the jungle safari and provided us absolutely genuine prices for all tourist attractions.
Don’t hesitate to ask for any help as they provide you with best options. We also got a fair deal at the Santhigiri Ayurvedic massage.
Abbas was a great host who was very accomodating and always tried to help us. He came to pick us up at the bus stop and overall during our whole stay he helped us book our trips etc. The location in the centre of Thekkady was very nice and everything was clean and ready upon our arrival.
The property was great and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful , specially, the manager Jitin. He ensured our stay was comfortable and arranged local tours and travels for us. Thekkady is a small town so Uber/ Ola isn’t available and hence a helpful hotel staff is must
Amazing hotel, we felt at home. Extremely good service, especially the naturalists Albin and Ashly. Both restaurants had really great food. The room is huge and comfortable. Everyone should try all service provided by hotel: yoga, cooking class, performance show, property visit.
This hotel was one our favourites in Kerala. The staff were so friendly and helped us plan our trip stay in Thekkady, we made good use of the roof top pool, Hayley put on a brilliant beginners yoga class and the homemade breakfast oats woth peanut butter was delicious.
The host Joseph is a lovely individual. He will make sure we enjoy THEKKADY at the fullest. He told us to book Elephant safari from elephant camp at a cheaper rate.
Also, he would keep our request of the food items we wanted for breakfast.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Thekkady.
Well maintained and peaceful property. Great host and service provided. Very near to all main attractions in thekkady. Rooms have balcony which is add on to this beautiful stay.
The place is very peaceful, the staff very nice and helpful
