Ooty is crowded these days. I would prefer to stay in connor next time. The traffic was horrible and it was not peaceful to just go sightseeing.
But the weather was nice and cozy to stay inside the homestay.

If you wanna enjoy the nature with relaxing experience, then avoid going to Ooty during weekends / extended weekends as mostly working professionals from Bangalore & Mysore visit which makes the traffic a terrific thing in the city.

The best thing to experience is Ooty toy train and rose garden.
Other things are overhyped. The pyara waterfall, the pine forest , shooting point etc are greatly overhyped. You can completly sip these and plan for coonoor or other nearby places like Wayanad.

A great destination for 2-3 days holidaying.
A great destination for 2-3 days holidaying. We visited the sites likes Pykara falls and lake, Shooting Point, Botanical garden, Rose garden, Chocolate Factory, Tea/ Cofee Factory, Doddabetta Peak etc to name a few. However following wroth to be noted:
1) Pykara Falls does not have any falls actually
2) Botanical Garden is not worth.
3) Toy train can be excluded from the trip.
4) Chocolate factory and tea factory on Dodabetta road is worth seen and should not be missed.

I shall not say there are any favourite spots as such, but you can try the PINE Forest and 9th mile shooting location. I shall infact recommend people to book a very nice amidst nature homestays or resorts and enjoy their stays. Also try the toy train but from Mettupalayam station to Coonor station, that has way better view to offer.
Getting around Ooty is not that easy, if not good in bargaining, autos can charge alot. So, better to take own vehicles and stay in a offbeat location.
Best places to eat were:
1. Earl's Secret in King's cliff. (Amazing ambience with great hospitality, go well dressed)
2. Hyderabadi Biryani House. (Little waiting time is there because of rush but for biryani lovers its worth it)
3. The Periodic Table, ( Luxury, Sexy, Chemistry ambience with continental food, yeah little expensive but their food display and hospitality and their little taste blasters were amazing)
4. Le Cafe (Outdoor cool cozy ambience with great food)
5. The Sugar Dribble Cafe ( A small corridor cozy cafe, you can try for evening snacks).
And most importantly for Souvenirs, i think i was going on round and round in the city. Lastly, beside Hotel Sahakar Palace, from where mostly the Buses will start there is a market called Sarakkar Super Market. You will find, fridge magnets, tea, chocolates, spices and many things there. Easy for bus travellers to get it before returning back

Ooty has a few sites to see but the pollution form the massive number of vehicles in the area is enough to make anyone sick. Most TukTuk drivers are coughing and have severe health issues in this area. Something needs to be done about this and the massive amounts of garbage in the area. Nature should be respected, this is the only planet we have.
Room is small and not worth for Rs 4000 + 500 GST =4500 per Day because similar many residency, hotel in the area charge Rs.2500 per Day only.
Moreover no bill is given even after request.for Rs 14226+GST Rs 2000 paid to Mr Bala, manager of SK Residency through GPay..
The hotel charges Rs 2500 per day to all others who come directly and book at the hotel.
I made a mistake of booking through you and paid excess of Rs6226 for 4 days.Since no bill is issued,I asked for refund of excess but they refused telling that it is paid to you
The hotel is a beautiful pearl in Ooty, in the heart of the green mountain with beautiful landscape. The atmosphere is very calm, each guest receives personal treatment and care. We got very good tratment from the hotel's team and especially excellent advices and treatment from Paul, the owner and he had a high interst pleasing us. He listened to our needs and expectations and tried to please us accordingly. The room was very clean. We liked the fire place. He
Nothing I liked about the Hotel. It is simply cheating our money. The room is totally unclean, Full bed bugs , Dustbins are not clean, Towels, the bathroom is a total collapse with broken taps and not clean at all. This hotel's breakfast is very waste not even a single boiled egg they are unable to keep after getting this much money. No salt in many food. This hotel is a cheating hotel. It is a shame for booking.com to keep tie up with this sort of hotels
When i was booked that hotel via booking.com, at the time shown room rent Rs.1300only per day ,but they charged 2500 per night and told me don't book in the website in booking.com.
i am planned for staying 2 night, but checkout one day ,due to not worth for 2500/per night & not available room service,
Kindly note all travelers anything you want you are only going outside and buy like morning tea & coffee & water etc.. ,,,
On Booking.com website this property was showed 4 star but it is not even a 2 star property. We booked a suit room but we were accommodated in a sub standard room, it was like a servant quarter with broken furniture, dirty walls, rusted electric equipment, dirty bedding and washroom. I would strongly advise Booking.com to degrade the property to 2 star. Please dont make a booking based on information available on the website.
Nothing except the news that they had given my rooms to someone else as he had paid more than what I paid...
I think that's the best thing about Red Rock Cottage and OYO as either there hotels won't exist or if they exist then they give your rooms to someone who pays more...
So just think twice before booking OYO property, if any time, I pay more then you could be without any place to stay.
We did not get the rooms stating the rooms are already booked...we have a pathetic experience with the booking.com, the staff made us wait and asked for more money at the hotel and denied later when we said the booking was done for a different amount. We travelled with a baby and we were made to wait for almost 1hr and finally no rooms were allocated.
One of the best stays in ooty. Enjoyed every bit of the stay. Anish was the caretaker and provided hospitable and friendly service. He was always there on call for anything we needed. I'd recommend this hotel for anyone visiting ooty and looking for a calm and serene location, away from the busting city.
Very good location, just opposite rose park and auto stand.
Few min via auto from Ooty bus stand.
Friendly and helpful staff.
They will arrange tour for pykara and coonoor if you ask.
Also inform them beforehand for train booking from coonoor to Ooty.
Good service.
Willow Hill is a very cosy hotel, nice and clean with a great view. The staff are polite, attentive and gave us recommendations on what to see in and around Ooty and allowed late check out.
Every thing was good except one , they scammed me , booked for 1000 and they charged 1900 by saying it's a free cancellation booking and the room was full , the category you select
Overall a good stay that can you find at Nilgiris. Good location, courteous staff and clean hotel. One can opt for this stay if you going on a official tour or with your family.
