A nice and relaxing traditional semi-desert town with the friendliest people (and cows) you can meet. You can just wander around and enjoy. Nobody would harass you, just friendly people greeting you, young and old, and friendly cows, of course.
You can visit the town's attractions or simply sit and enjoy observing the vibrant local life.

The Jaisalmer fort is located on top of a rock.
The Jaisalmer fort is located on top of a rock. Inside the fort there is old town. There are private houses inside the fort. Walking around the small small lanes is very interesting. But be very careful about the local people. They will try to cheat you somehow or the other. Even if you take a guide, the guide will make you pay double the money because they get commission whatever you spend during your visit.
I have seen people sitting next to me in a terrace, paying INR 500 for two coffees and I paid the same coffees INR 140. Because their guide told the waiter to take INR 500 from them. It was so sad… people of Rajastan specially guides and drivers and shop owners are looting foreigners.

Jaisalmer was definitely more touristy, then the other cities we had visited before. In a way, this made our short stay there more comfortable. People on the street were friendly and greeted us, without trying to sell us anything.

A very good combination of History, Culture, Gastronomic delights and contemporary sightseeing. I recommend the Jaisalmer Fort Or the Golden Fort (has historical artefacts), the War Museum, Gadisar Lake and the surroundings, Folklore Museum and Desert Cultural Centre (set up Shri Nand Kishore Sharma, 94 years old, in1983. The Desert Cultural Centre also hosts a puppet show (two showings a day) in the evening.

"glamping" one night in desert big mistake.
"glamping" one night in desert big mistake. Better to stay in town and go out to desert for camel ride. Recommend getting a tour around the fort an old city. Found a guide on Getyourguide and he was great. Wyra on the roof of the Marriot is a good spurge for dinner and nice views of fort at night.
Been in India for two months now. Went to Jaisalmer to ride camels only. I was not expecting the hospitality that this hotel has to offer.
Room was exceptional clean and the bed was so very comfortable.
I booked the over night camel safari at the hotel and it was one of the best experiences I have had in India.
Ba, the owner, will greet you with such hospitality you will feel warm and welcome. Being in the fort is also a great experience and the location is really easy to find.
We absolutely cannot fault the service of this hotel. We arrived late and they stayed up for our arrival including the chef who made us a meal despite the restaurant being closed. We were only booked in for one night, but the hotel became our base for the next two days while we were in and around Jaisalmer on a safari. The hotel was kind enough to let us use all their facilities. We really appreciated the welcome received. This hotel camel safari very nyc friendly camel men and car driver
I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Jaisalmer.
Gorgeous building,
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Jaisalmer
we can get a breathtaking view of the Jaisalmer Fort as well as the City from their beautiful & ambient rooftop Restaurant. High quality food, room facilities, and high quality service from staffs also... Just loved it 🥰
Our stay at the surya hotel inside Jaisalmer Fort was delightful. The cozy and comfortable atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff was exceptionally good and friendly, always ready to assist with a warm smile. The unique experience of staying within the historic fort added to the charm of our visit. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable stay, and we would highly recommend it to others seeking a cozy retreat with excellent service.
I went there in off-season so the swimming pool was under maintenance. It was like that in the whole Jaisalmer city so I didn't blame them (but they promised it'll be good in 1 month). The staff were friendly and helpful. The food at the rooftop restaurant was pretty nice. I stayed in the junior suite and it was nice, clean, and affordable. I walked to the fort and the lake. They're not far from the hotel. In general, the stay was pleasant.
I stayed at hotel the surya jaisalmer with my family in the month of January during holiday trip. It was really a wonderful stay inside Jaisalmer Fort. Rooms are very well decorated. View of the Fort entry and city from the room and rooftop canteen are awesome. All the staff are so well behaved that their hospitality and warmth in behaviour made our stay like stay in a home far away from our home. Thank you.hotel the surya jaisalmer team.
5 star - Mr dilvar and his younger brother floored us with their genial demeanour and attention to detail. The service standards, comfort and luxury of the tents in a desert was hard to find at hotels in proper cities during my trip.
Absolute hands down winner was the camal safari and the evening cultural performance we witnessed under the starry nights. One of the highlights of my 12 days trip in western Rajasthan. Keep it up!
Such a beautiful hotel. Jaisalmer itself is so charming and filled with wonderful people, sights and history and this hotel fits in perfectly. The room are immaculate as are the lobby. The pool area is something to behold. We loved the overall ambience of the palace, all of the staff were hospitable. We will definitely be back.
The experience here was very nice . The performances were mesmerising. When we talk about the service it was very good . DESERT SAFARI experience was ultimate . Camel ride was also a good experience .
Food there was nice and good in quality.
The 5 star rooms were actually 5 star , with all comfort !.
MUST VISIT HOTEL !
Very good hotel, situated in a 200 year old Jaisalmer Palace. Very spacious rooms. Staff is really friendly and makes every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Great rooftop dining with a la carte en buffet options; with Jaisalmer Fort views. Nice and well maintained pool. Perfect location.
Exceptionally beautiful one-of-a-kind hotel (inside and outside). The rooms are very clean and well-decorated.
Gaji is a wonderful host and has an outstanding staff - so nice and helpful.
Will definitely come back here next time we are in the beautiful city of Jaisalmer.
10 out of 10 across the board.
Such a wonderful place to get a glimpse of Jaisalmer's beauty. The property lies inside the fort and makes it easy for us to roam around the fort any time. The service provided by the people at hotel mirage is even more wonderful that they don't disappoint you at anytime time when you need something.
Best cosy hotel in jaisalmer easy to hangout with other traveler owner Hasim he's Best man he pickup is from train at midnight and room is very comfortable it's very fresh new hotel easy to walk in fort and lake best unfortunately experience of Nomads Camel Safari Best price highly recommend everyone
The room is large, we needed space for 2x suitcases and it was perfect, amazing view over the fort at night! The staff were all amazing, they delivered room service to us every night and were very speedy and quick with all questions and problems we had. Best hotel staff we met in jaisalmer!
incredible location (might seem out of the way but super quiet but still close to town), staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room was beautiful and clean and the bed was more comfortable than the 5 star hotel we stayed in the night before. Our favourite hotel so far in India
great journey to jaisalmer beautiful city hotel rooms was outstanding and he gives pick up free and drop facilities owner behaviours was very good and we took package desert safari we enjoyed there a lot jeep safari was excellent we must recommended this place for family hotel
This hotel is inside the Jaisalmer Fort having a very good city view from its rooms and terrace. My room had a Sun Rise view which was really awesome. The property manager was really helpful and polite, I liked his behaviour. The room size was good with an extra bed provided.
Breakfast was good enough but not actually meeting expectations of a 5 star hotel. Maybe due to large quantities of food made at once on the buffet, the quality was compromised a bit.
Staff and room cleanliness were excellent. Room service was quick and prompt.
This is my first experience in the Rajasthan tour and enjoy in Jaisalmer and Jaipur also Queen of heel Resort staff is very friendly nature and Hotel is also good all Facility are there in this hotel 😍😊😍👍👍.
