I loved everything about this place! The kitchen had more utensils than most people have at home, so many choices of board games, and all the books! Made you feel like you want to stay for a month to discover everything on the shelves! Such a great idea for an apartment! Do not miss a chance to get breakfast served by a real viking in RAM Iceland!

  • Hello im a little concerned about the key system? I was reading some people found it a bit complicated, so wanted to know how would be before hand? should i go to freezer hostel first maybe? Thanks
    Hey, The key system is pretty simple. There is a keybox on the door and the code to open it is 2406. Regarding payment, if you haven´t provided credidcard details for the booking you must stop by at the freezer hostel to finish the payment.

  • Hello, we wanted to stay in your apartment with 4 adults and 2 small children (7 years old). It looks like they could share the top bunk, 2 short adults in double bottom bunk and 2 adults in the other double bed. Would this be ok? Also what month is best to visit?

I´m Kári Viðarsson, The manager and artistic director of the The Freezer, a former fish factory now turned into a hot spot for travellers seeking a place to stay, meet people and take part in artistic events of all sorts. The Freezer is a place that offers accommodation as well as art and culture to it's guests. I am a professional actor and also the grandson of the people that built the Freezer apartments.

This place is situated in one of the oldest houses in the town of Hellissandur and has a lot of historical value for the area. The Bookstore Apartment was actually the town's bookstore, run by my grandmother for decades before being turned into this wonderful themed apartment / library

Neighborhood info

The neighborhood is on the doorstep of Snæfellsjökull Glacier national park. Within it you will find many lava fields, beaches, craters, flora, mountains, viewpoints, waterfalls, rich bird life and everything else that the Icelandic nature has to offer. This area is usually referred to as "Iceland in a nutshell" because here you can see so many things without having to travel long distances in between. I grew up here and can safely say that it's one of the most beautiful places in Iceland and probably on earth.
