The history of the Barbas’ winery and family is engrossing and marks the course of entire epochs. The Barba family comes from afar and carries with it the legacy of ancient traditions. The first traces date back to fifteenth century Naples, a time when our ancestor Francesco Barba, abbot and canon under the pontificate of Sixtus IV, held the office of collector of papal tithes. Over time the Barbas moved to Abruzzo, in the province of Teramo: this information is confirmed by the records of the onciarian land registry that stated how a Carlo Barba in the middle of the eighteenth century, owned many properties in the town of Santa Margherita di Atri, in the plains of Casoli and in Fontanelle. That was the beginning of our landed property, of our history, to which the following generation will contribute remarkably.
Staying in Abruzzo gives you the opportunity to enjoy wonderful unspoiled landscapes and to do all sorts of recreational activities. This region offers a perfect combination when meeting the needs and desires of every member of the family, whatever their age. From your apartment at Agrimare Barba, you can comfortably plan your travels while enjoying the view of the hillside that meets the seashore. The closest beach, Scerne di Pineto, is pebbly and natural and is just a few hundred metres away from the Agrimare apartments, thus easily reached by car or bike. If relaxing beach facilities are what you’re after, the small seaside towns of Roseto and Pineto are just 5km away, and there you’ll find sandy and fully-equipped beaches. If you wish to stay within the local area, Torre del Cerrano, one of the most beautiful beaches in Abruzzo and an oasis of calm in a setting of rare beauty, is definitely worth a visit. In Abruzzo, the summer is a season packed with all sorts of events: feasts, town festivals, concerts. To try some of the specialities Abruzzo has to offer, there are numerous food and wine events that you can attend in the neighbouring towns.
