Amazing place for people which want to spend time with local...
Amazing place for people which want to spend time with local people and mainly local tourists. We did not meet many people from other countries, price in restaurants are very "normal", not high like in another more popular destinations. Nice beaches, water in sea in clear and has amazing colours. City is calm but has a great offer for active tourists, is also interesting from historical point of view. Is really worth to make a stop here, not treat Piombino only as a port in way to Elba. This city has a really nice offer. I would like to back here again.

Other than being accessible to the ferry. The town really did not have a lot to offer. Relied on public transportation which was quite good once you get the hang of it. Buy your tickets before boarding buses as they usually cost double from the driver.

Piombino is not only holiday destination, but also industrial city, sometimes were views in contrast to nice ocean scenerio. In the evenings there was problem to find nice and free restaurant - usually you have to book your reservation in advance. We definitely recommend a trip to Elba by ferry. Elba is perfect green with many beaches and breathtaking views.

Industrial and historical city. The industrial side let us a very bad impression of the town. Nevertheless, it was pleasant to visit the historic town. The castle, the little tower, the life : Piombino is a little and peaceful city.

Lots to look at and explore .
Lots to look at and explore . Right on the ocean , not really swimming beaches . You could take a trip out to the nearby islands . A great place to escape the tourist crowds. Walked everywhere. Had choice of restaurants. This is a town off the beaten track so is quite daunting as you travel on an old train and travel through huge industrial areas . You arrive on an empty station , no taxi . Our hosts were very friendly, met us promptly at the apartment and used Google translate to help communicate as they didn't speak English. Complimentary breakfast snacks and drinks.
