If you have much luggage, I would travel there by car. Otherwise travelling by bus was really easy and inexpensive. We ate at most of the places on the main street through the town. We loved the views, in all honesty they were just spectacular. The best part of driving to the village was admiring the countryside as you got there. That being said, make sure you don't have a very wide vehicle as you drive up from the Lake Lugano side. The roads are very thin and have some sharp hairpin bends. Driving up from Lake Como is much more relaxing, using the main road. Our favourite place to eat was the Taverna Due Castagni. The food was amazing, the prices (average 11€ per course) make it superbe value for money. A great pizza restaurant on the main square. Not much shopping for tourists seeking souvenirs but a genuine local town. Great location for accessing both lake Como and lugano. The hair pin bends are interesting! Would recommend Porlezza on lake lugano and Pirga for the walk to the Belvedere and the funicular down to Argegno which is a beautiful little village. It was attractive, clean, with a good breakfast, good water pressure and hot water. The small town was charming, and the mountain views impressive. But the outstanding quality was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, he seemed to be the manager, who did everything he could for us, from coming to get us in the parking lot, to finding a wheelchair, to getting us pizza when I was too tired to go out for it. Be advised that the roads up and down the mountain and Val to the hotel are intimidating at first to us Americans. We were glad we had a small car with automatic transmission. By our final day, we were driving like the locals!

Our room was super comfortable and everything was very clean. We had a shower in our room and a private toilet across the hallway which we did not mind at all. Pieter is a very friendly and helpful host who serves the perfect breakfast. We also enjoyed the nice garden and beautiful view at night with a beer from the cozy basement bar. We‘d come back anytime.

The breakfast is pretty good and abundant by Italian standards (forget an English/Irish/Scottish breakfast, though: no fry-ups will be served in Italy at breakfast time!).
