Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.
For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

We loved that you can walk everywhere easily and there is so much to do and see. They have great museums, shopping, etc. and the food is phenomenal & well priced. The uneven pavement and small sidewalks makes it a bit difficult. You definitely need comfortable walking shoes.

Easy to walk around the city and see the sights.
Easy to walk around the city and see the sights. Lots of places to eat with varying prices. Pre book tickets to attractions to avoid the worst of the crowds and to make sure that you get to see them. If you want to explore further afield or not wall toomuch try out the buses,

I was here for 10 days in April.
I was here for 10 days in April. I saw all the major sights and yet the list of places to see that I haven't visited is longer than the list of those I have. There is so much to see and do! Take a walking tour when you first arrive to get oriented. The guides are knowledgeable and must be licensed. Then make a list of must-sees dependent on your interests. I strongly recommend booking a skip the line guided tour or at least tickets, or you'll be standing in long lines and not have time to see as much. I averaged about 12,000 steps a day, but I love to walk. If you are here long enough, book a tour of Siena or a wine tasting tour. Just be aware that the countryside is hilly and you must be able to walk up stairs and up and down steep streets.
In Florence I loved the Bargello and Orsanmichele because they were much less crowded. The Uffizi is amazing, but be prepared for crowds of people. Try to go to the Duomo piazza before 8 am to see it without the crowd. Have a coffee and enjoy the quiet there, as well as at the Uffizi and along the Arno. You can get pics without a gazillion people in them.
Sign up for a cooking class, learn to make pasta, bruschetta and tiramisu!
Be sure you go to the Mercado Centrale. Wander through the shops on the ground floor and smell and taste the cheeses. Then go upstairs for breakfast or lunch.
Don't miss the churches- Santa Maria Novella, Santa Croce, Santa Spiritu, and San Lorenzo are all worth your while. Don't miss the Riccardi-Medici palace. And that just scratches the surface. Pick a different piazza each evening for an apperitvo or a glass of Prosecco. Keep your ears open for the bells and for random street performers, you may hear opera singing, violin, accordion. All wonderful.
Eat at Zaza's and try the Riboletto, the Tuscan soup.

Just beautiful. Lived up to expectations.
Just beautiful. Lived up to expectations. Good decision landing at Florence airport. Quick tram ride into central Florence. All sights walkable although beware of cobbles. Crowded around Duomo. Don’t bother queuing to get views from bell tower or dome . Santa Croce more interesting .Rather go to Piazza Michelangelo on the other side of the Arno.for views Food wonderful ,even in the most modest restaurant. Go to Central Market for lunchtime snack. Highly recommend Perche No for heavenly gelato. For modern take on Tuscan cuisine: Ristorante Brandolino in San Lorenzo area.
Book early tickets for Uffizi and Acedemia.

Beautiful city and easy to walk everywhere.
Beautiful city and easy to walk everywhere. Best to book galleries etc in advance to save queuing up. My favourite was the Pitti Palace and Boboli and Bardini gardens. The Bardini garden has a cafe with a terrace with a great view but it was very busy at lunchtime and we couldn't get food as they had got too far behind with orders but great for a drink.
San Spirito over the river has a great square with restaurants and cheaper than centre of Florence. The Gilli cafe in the centre has a great buzz about it, fab cocktails and great for people watching
This is an interesting place, part of it is for long term students/international workers. It has a very artsy eclectic vibe. It was close to the train station and close enough to walk to the main attractions in Florence. The rooms were big for Florence, and there was free laundry in the basement which worked well. There is a very nice gym that my husband was happy to use, as most of our hotels in Italy have not had a gym. The best part of the hotel is the rooftop pool/bar! amazing views of the Duomo!
From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. The staff went above and beyond what is required from them. They were so helpful and kind. The apartment was immaculate and beautiful and one of the best stays we have had in Italy. It really felt like home from home - even better I would say. I could not fault it, and will look forward to coming back again soon as we have fallen in love with Florence. Many Thanks for such a momentous stay, we couldn't have asked for more.

The location was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room and all of the common areas were cleaned to an outstanding level every day. When you book 1st class in trains, you often need hard copies printed to show your reservation. I would receive the email from Rail Europe and forward it to the hotel and the staff immediately printed it for me. The front desk staff and the maid who cleans the building makes this a desirable place to stay in the city of Florence Italy.
We chose this hotel for it's location away from the historic center of Florence and for the facilities. It was a great decision. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful and the facility lived up to the pictures (for a change!) which included a wonderful breakfast each morning. 20 minutes walk to the Florence's main attractions, was a lovely way to start each day. Overall a wonderful week in Florence and our best holiday in Italy to date.
This was one of the best places at which we stayed in Italy over 7 weeks, and we stayed in some great places. The design, the bed and linen, the bathroom and great shower, so much room to move, and a kitchen with everything. The communication was fantastic, with Daniel, Erika, and Letizia in touch often to make sure we were fine. Close enough to the sights but far enough away to avoid the hordes. Great value also for Florence.
After staying in some not-so fancy hotels throughout our trip in Italy, we were PLEASANTLY surprised when we arrived to Hotel Pierre. The hotel staff was incredibly accommodating and the room and hotel spaces were so charming! On top of everything else, this is probably one of the best locations you can stay at in Florence. We were walking distance to everything, and had multiple shops and cafes right outside of our door.
Everything! Such a lovely authentic place with great hosts, Daniel & Alyssa. We felt as if we were in Italy all the time rather than only once we got outside of the usual generic hotel. (A trip highlight was our host’s recommendation that we also try visiting the lesser known Lucca on a day we were going to visit Pisa & we loved it so much we stayed there & didn’t bother with Pisa at all! - best tip ever!)
Luciano made our stay in Florence very special. The accommodations were perfect and his recommendations on restaurants and places to visit were excellent. He went out of his way to make sure our time in Florence was memorable. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again. This was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Italy.
Rocco was a magnificent host! he
was there to greet us at check in.
he prepared the most fabulous breakfast
each morning with the best cappuccino
that we had in Italy! The property was close
to every place that we wanted to see
in Florence. I would definitely recommend
the Boutique Hotel Hugo to anyone
who wants to experience Florence in comfort!
It was the best hotel my husband and I stayed during our 15 day trip to Italy. The staff at front desk and breakfast were very nice, helpful and polite. Also the staff at breakfast. The room was big, very clean, with nice sheets. Spa was great. Wifi worked very well. Location is also great, short walk to Arno River and sightseeings.
The hotel is my favorite one during the trip in Italy. Good location to all the tourists sites and also quiet to sleep. The apartment is well-decorated and all the furniture is elegant and beautiful. And the staff here is very friendly and considerate. I will choose this place for staying if I will go to Florence next time.
Location location location! Literally 30m from one of the main piazza’s, perfect location to explore Florence central. Beautiful cosy appt, very clean and tidy.
Great communication leading up to the stay and recommendations for parking which helped immensely.
Best place I stayed in Italy on my trip.
The hotel was amazing it exceeded my expectations... the decorations the room were absolutely beautiful 😍 the oweners were very nice and helpful and their recommendations were great... the location was excellent... this was really an award end of my trip to Italy.. definitely coming back😍
Silvia’s place was beautiful. Exactly as described in the pictures, phenomenal location right in the heart of Florence. She even was so kind to leave us a bottle of wine & Oreos. It was the best B&B we stayed in during our 2 week trip to Italy. Highly recommend!!
The Hotel is literally across the Piazza from the Duomo basilica. Extremely central position, but expensive, but hey, June in Italy is expensive. The room itself was very good, breakfast was great and you can walk to every museum, the river, so very central.
The hotel was amazing and had an amazing view on the hills of Florence. The ideal place to relax and enjoy the calmness of italy. The room was cozy and clean but the highlight was the employers who helped us with anything we needed. I hope we can visit again
Excellent place to stay in Florence. Staff were very kind and sweet. The manager from the hotel also an excellent person. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. Definitely we recommend this place for your vacations in Florence- Italy
Lovely place on the top of a hill looking over Florence. Staff amazing and very accommodating making sure we had a taxi at 5am for the airport. Everything is luxurious. Restaurant was one of the best meals we had in Italy.
The apartment is large and comfortable for a family of four! The location is literally perfect. Walking distance to all main attractions in Florence. Give you the perfect feel for a vacation in Italy!
