Hotel Solun, hotel in Trieste

Ideally set in the centre of Trieste, Hotel Solun offers free WiFi throughout the property and a bar. This 4-star hotel offers luggage storage space.

I only stayed one night but it was very pleasant, with a comfortable bed, and the bathroom was nice and a good size. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Location is walkable to the main sights/squares. I didn't have breakfast but it was available and the bar looked good from a brief glance. No complaints at all.

FAQs about hotels in Trieste

Italy’s Answer to Vienna

Near the Slovenian border, Trieste combines the waterside setting of Venice with the elegance of Vienna. The Habsburgs ruled here for over 500 years and built Miramare Castle on a rocky outcrop to the north-west. Their other influences include stately Piazza Unità d’Italia, looking out to sea and spectacularly lit at night.

But this is just a glimpse into Trieste's long and fascinating history. The 1st-century Riccardo Arch hides in a narrow street, and part-way up the hills behind the city centre are Roman theatre remains, while columns from the Roman forum stand next to San Giusto castle and cathedral.

The most photographed church is Sant’Antonio Nuovo, overlooking a boat-lined canal. The nearby Stock Exchange has a colonnaded façade and its square houses some of the city’s shops. The most popular cultural attraction is the Revoltella Museum of modern art, while more sobering is Risiera di San Sabba, a former concentration camp near the Palatrieste and Nereo Rocco sports stadiums.

Watersports include windsurfing and kitesurfing from the port which is an important coffee importer. Unsurprisingly, the city’s Viennese-style coffee houses serve top-quality brews, and the best is reportedly Caffè San Marco, once frequented by famous authors.

Booking.com’s Trieste accommodation includes hotels with pools, cheap apartments by the station and B&Bs near Ronchi dei Legionari Airport.

Trieste is fantastic, very walkable, stunning architecture, good shopping, and plenty of excellent places to wine and dine. Public transport is very accessible for anyone wanting a day trip, perhaps if the weather is not cooperating, and it's very easy to hop on the train to visit Venice for a few hours, or to take a bus trip to Slovenia for the day. Trieste is very high on my list of places to return to as often as possible.

Trieste is gorgeous and it`s worth visiting.

Trieste is gorgeous and it`s worth visiting. There are loads to see in the area and you can also visit Croatia, Slovenia, as they are very close. It is easy to go from A to B with public transport (although I found the ticket system far too overcomplicated and be prepared that unless you speak / read Italian you will be a bit lost). Driving is not really recommended for inexperienced drivers as the roads are super steep and most of them are narrow. I would not visit the city with small kids in a buggy, because it can be very frustrating to push a buggy on these narrow / steep streets, but if your kids are older than 6-8 and can walk a lot, it is a great area to explore.

A beautiful coastal city, with fantastic facades and beautiful promenades and squares. Close to good beaches and places worth visiting. An excellent starting point for visiting Venice, Istria, Slovenia... Excellent food in restaurants, which are very affordable (20-50 EUR per person). House wines cost 7 EUR for half a liter, and they are excellent. Extremely well stocked stores.

A modern colorful hotel exuding a hip/artsy vibe. Bold artwork and sculptures contrast its historic interiors. Top-floor single rooms have beds and desk under the rafters, so watch your head! The room was spacious with a comfy full-size bed, multi lighting options, a spacious bathroom with large walk-in shower and generous amenities. The buffet breakfast was very good with assorted savory and sweet items and beverages. Located approx. 10 minutes walking distance from railway station and minutes from the main sights. Welcome at Reception was excellent. Thoroughly professional, friendly and helpful. The Hotel itself is a truly magnificent building. The room we had was very comfortable and clean and the bed was really comfy. Great shower and everything there you need. Situated right near the centre and shops but quiet. A taxi from Triest Central was 7 Euros, would recommend as it's a bit of a walk with cases. Our second stay this year and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Double Tree Hilton and Triest are fantastic!

We (2 adults and our 10-years old daughter) spent a night in the hotel, visiting Trieste on our way from home from Tuscany. It is positioned near the most picturesque part of the downtown and the harbor. The room was clean, spacious, and well equipped. The staff is kind and helpful. Parking places are available on the street for fee or garages are available in the surrounding area. The hotel offers a convenient drop and pick-up service for 20 Euro (we haven't tried it). We had a good breakfast.
