Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic center. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.
Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.
For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.
The beauty and flavours of Florence are just a 15-minute train ride from the Amerigo Vespucci International Airport. Whether you’re looking for a room with a view at a cosy B&B, a luxury hotel or an intimate guesthouse, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Florence adventure.
Beautiful city and easy to walk everywhere. Best to book galleries etc in advance to save queuing up. My favourite was the Pitti Palace and Boboli and Bardini gardens. The Bardini garden has a cafe with a terrace with a great view but it was very busy at lunchtime and we couldn't get food as they had got too far behind with orders but great for a drink.
San Spirito over the river has a great square with restaurants and cheaper than centre of Florence. The Gilli cafe in the centre has a great buzz about it, fab cocktails and great for people watching

Undoubtedly, Florence has fascinating history and wonderful...
Undoubtedly, Florence has fascinating history and wonderful sites and views which I really enjoyed. However, sadly, there are no sufficient walking spaces provided for the crowds of tourists who come there. Many walking paths are very narrow and uneven, and car traffic is extremely busy even in the oldest and narrowest streets. Pedestrians must be very aware of constantly speeding cars, motors, scooters, and bikes and take great care when crossing streets (especially with children!). All this makes sightseeing stressful and even dangerous. Another problem in Florence, compared to other major cities in Europe is the near-total lack of green spaces- parks or green squares etc, at least in the area between SMN train Station and the Oltrarno which I got to know. The exception is the vast Bobboli Gardens but you must pay to enter here. For this reason, I would avoid Florence in the height of summer. I think both locals and tourists would benefit from more green spaces and the closure of motor traffic in the old city quarters. Another problem is the overwhelming majority of carbohydrate-based food- white bread, white pasta, pizzas. Traditional and delicious as they may be, alternatives should be offered for a carb-free or celiac diet, which is common in other parts of the world.

Can't say anything too much of Florence.
Can't say anything too much of Florence. Have been there dozens of times since I was a child. Seen anything with the most varied eyes.
Last time I was there I wandered around places of my childhood: my aunt used to live a little north of San Marco, close to the ring road above. I discovered what was must have been a very lush neighborhood during medieval times: all remnants of gardens anywhere (one of them is now a hotel). There's the "Garden of the simples" but many more, hidden behind the gates of a nowadays villa.
Also, if you can get off the beaten track, you'll find ordinary places that still have the rust of the past: the Farmacia dei Medici, still open until not so long ago and that still bear the signs of the potions sold.
A road have a sign indicating the house where Andrea del Sarto lived, a painter of the 1500 who decorated a visitable cloister* just a couple of meters by, a house that he himself built with his bare hands.
Wake up early, step away from the noise and you'll find out all of this and more.
Cheers.
* pay attentions to opening days. on sundays they vary.

Florence is a wonderful city.
Florence is a wonderful city. It’s worth a longer visit so you take your time exploring and get off the beaten track. It’s easy to walk all around the city, both sides of the river. A great place for solo female travellers - I always felt comfortable and welcomed.
Piazza San Spirito is a lovely place for an early evening spritz and a chance to soak up the atmosphere.
If you are interested in archeology, take a day trip to Fiesole.

Excelent venue with tastes for all.
Excelent venue with tastes for all. Would definitely work remotely there to really get to know the place. Great city to visit. You need to balance your art / museum visits unless you really like religious paintings and iconography.

Boutique hotel Hugo was nice but getting to it was difficult...
Boutique hotel Hugo was nice but getting to it was difficult. There is no stopping on the street, so I had to park at a garage 2 blocks away and carry the bag on a cobblestone street. Than climb 4 flights of stairs. Luckily the gentleman Rocco who was in charge of the front desk helped us. Nice hotel but I wouldn't recommend if you have any physical health issues.
Where do we start. We would like to thank Matteo and David for their hospitality and extremely helpful information about the surrounding area and city center. It makes such big different impressions for our trip in Italy. The hotel location is perfect for my husband and I. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, and yet walking distance to the most attractions. I think the most important is their personal people to people service. This is certainly a stay we would like to come back during our next visit. Thank you Matteo and David!
Staff was perfectly efficient. It was very calm at night. No drunken shouting in the corridors, although the hostel was full. It was my first experience in a hostel. Mattress was hard orthopaedic - just how j like it for my back.I had a private room similar to the hotel. And I liked my stay.
Breakfast was an extra 9 eur. But it was a good buffet. Scrumble omlet was nice to have before exploring Florence. Not in each 3-star hotel you can get it in Italy.
Check out is at 10.00. But you can use luggage room for 3 eur per day. Convenient.
So adorable! This hotel is fairly on the new side and has a chic/modern feel to it. The layout seemed to be well thought through and it has been beautifully decorated. My room was just enough space for one person. The location is far enough away from all the noise but close enough to quickly get to the action. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast at the hotel was #1 compared to the other hotels I stayed in during my time in Italy. I would definitely return for another stay here if I am ever back in Florence.
Relais Tiffany is in a great location for exploring Florence and is close to the train station too if you're travelling. The room was comfortable and clean with AC and water, tea and coffee provided. Antonella was super helpful and sent through a list of recommendations beforehand including where to eat, drink etc. She also helped us plan how to get to our next destination in Italy and was really flexible with us when it came to leaving our bags after check out time. We would highly recommend!
A superb accomodation..we could not have asked for better...it was amazing...ultra clean and ultra smart . Cynthia was fantastic and made our stay so memorable, Our Italian is not so great ,however this was no problem as Cynthias English was superb .Roof terrace was excellent...i would highly recommend thiis property for a stay in Florence ....we were travelling in Italy for 11days and this was the BEST stay during our trip .graziie millle to Cynthia and Marco from Hugo and Kathleen
We chose this hotel for it's location away from the historic center of Florence and for the facilities. It was a great decision. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful and the facility lived up to the pictures (for a change!) which included a wonderful breakfast each morning. 20 minutes walk to the Florence's main attractions, was a lovely way to start each day. Overall a wonderful week in Florence and our best holiday in Italy to date.
We arrived early as we were travelling around Italy from Florence. Our room wasn’t ready as there was a problem with the air conditioning. The receptionist put our bags into the luggage store so we could go and venture out. Such great customer service. Our room was also the nicest room (except the honeymoon suite on my wedding) I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. I do think we were upgraded and if so I cannot thank the hotel enough.
Every part of this hotel is EXCEPTIONAL starting with the staff who are all gracious, helpful, very very professional. I have traveled for many years and stayed in many hotels in Florence and in Italy and the Davanzati is the very best. The breakfast, the tea, the "happy hour" all over the top fabulous! the staff, the rooms, Book early because this hotel has very loyal repeat customers!
The location of this hotel is excellent. The Duomo is two minutes away. The room is quite spacious and the bathroom is very modern with rituals products. It was definitely the nicest room we had during our week stay in Italy. The staff were very nice and helpful, giving us recommendations for restaurants to try. They stored our bags while we explored Florence before our train.
A lovely hotel is in front of the tram station. 6 stops and you are at the central train station 7 stops and you are in the center of Florence. One minute of walking and there is a large supermarket. The staff is really charming and humane even in the most stressful moments. Everything is clean. I choose this hotel already 4 times during my vacations in Italy.
Sharon
My girlfriend and I booked a 2-night stay here and it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had in Italy. The host made a considerable effort to make sure our room and restroom stayed clean. The host was also extremely friendly and accommodating and it made our experience in Florence 100x better. We will most definitely be visiting again when we come to Florence!
First of all the stuff was more than excellent especially one guy, always there to help us and to give us advice for our Italy tour. The room was amazing and every day we had new fresh clean towels, slippers and a clean room. There was parking and if it was full they had second option for you. Overall I suggest this hotel 100%!
Location was fantastic, the front desk so helpful, and the decor is amazing. It's modern and central, and feels like an upgrade from many other hotels in Italy. Highly recommend you checking out the hotel for your next stay in Florence - I know I'll be back.
Also looking forward to visiting any other Milu locations.
The Hotel is literally across the Piazza from the Duomo basilica. Extremely central position, but expensive, but hey, June in Italy is expensive. The room itself was very good, breakfast was great and you can walk to every museum, the river, so very central.
Exceptional good hotel, the best I have ever had in Italy. They operate as 6 stars. Room, service, staff, climate controls and breakfast, all excellent and best for the price. Full in center of the duomo. Surprise: free valet parking service. 12 points
This is the best hotel I have stayed in during my trip to Italy. The location, staff quality and suite facilities are all outstanding. If I go on vacation in Florence again, I will definitely choose this hotel again without hesitation.
This hotel was amazing. The staff was very kind and very professional. We stayed in many places throughout italy but Florence was the best and this hotel had something to do with that. Very good in price as well
A real gem of a hotel— wonderful service, great rooms and a yummy breakfast and happy hour. We felt like we were visiting friends! We will be back to Italy and Hotel David us on our “don’t miss” list.
