Castello is the most authentic district of the city. Here, in the island of San Pietro di Castello, stands the homonymous Church, where the Patriarch used to reside at the time of the Serenissima. Beautiful to visit are the Napoleonic Gardens where, between May and November, takes place La Biennale di Venezia. And do not miss a visit to the majestic entrance of the Arsenale. From Castello you can easily reach San Marco strolling along the Riva dei Sette Martiri and the Riva degli Schiavoni. The Lido island, with its famous beaches and the Venice International Film Festival (29 Aug – 8 Sept 2018), is just one waterbus stop away from this area.
