The Cannaregio district is one of the liveliest in Venice but, at the same time, it maintains an aura of authenticity that dates back to the 16th century. The nearby Strada Nova is a famous local shopping street, while the secondary streets are a destination for lovers of crafts and vintage products. Informal canal-side restaurants and bars line the nearby Fondamenta della Misericordia and Degli Ormesini, while the sumptuous Ca 'd'Oro palace displays a collection of Renaissance art.
