The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown
As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.
As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Teatre grec fantàstic. Recomano anar a primera hora del mati, no fa tanta calor, hi ha ombra i poca gent que permet gaudir amb calma. Turístic , vistes panoràmiques, molt recomanable. L´anfiteàtre romà es visita a no perdre. fantàstic amb unes vistes extraordinaries. Bons restaurants, la única cosa es que degut a la quantitat de turistes es una mica complicat circular però això no es impediment per no visitar.lo.

En Taormina no es pot aparcar al centre.Tens parquings aprop de pagament .Però hi ha un bus que et dú al centre gratuitament si és precís.És molt bonica .Està plena de racons que t'asombren.És molt turística, però a la vegada molt auténtica.Hem visitat Castelmola on pots arrivar en bus o en taxi ( no aconselle agafar cotxe) .També varem anar a Issobella amb fulicular . Les dies que hem estat allí no ens ha fet falta agafar el cotxe per a res.
