San Miniato is a small town divided in two parts, low and high. San Miniato Basso (low) houses commercial areas, large supermarkets etc. The high city is the old town with a lot of history to be discovered.

We went to San Miniato for part of the annual truffle festival (last 3 weekends in November) and we weren't disappointed! The whole town smelled delicious - the food market sprawls throughout the old town and is full of wonderful, interesting ingredients and food experiences. San Miniato itself is a lovely old hilltop town rich in heritage, and very picturesque. There are some lovely activities available in the local area - we were able to go truffle hunting with a local family and their gorgeous dog. The Tuscan countryside in autumn was spectacular. Definitely recommend having a car - the streets of the town are very narrow and winding, so just a small one maybe - but the area begs to be explored and it's not as easy if you are relying on public transport. San Miniato is within very easy striking distance of Pisa airport, and Florence. Will certainly be going back!

Great little hidden gem!
Great little hidden gem! The food is amazing, best I had in Italy! Visit the local butcher shop for lunch called Serigo Falaschi 4 generations strong all organic meat! you’ll have experience to remember, tell them Chef Mahogany sent ya. There is small bus service but it’s limited to keep in mind, and be ready to walk a lot, but it’s very small town, maybe 10 blocks in total! Don’t be fooled into booking with Airbnb, get hotel it’s worth it, and there are a lot issues with insects, so I recommend a place with A/C and keeping windows closed. Try Plazza de Populo in the square best restaurant in town for dinner! Ciao!

San Miniato is a very small Tuscan town it is very typically Italian however compared to others in the area like Sienna or Lucca it is not as large or interesting. This is the heart of truffle country and I am led to believe there is a festival in November which I am sure would be worth a visit. The surrounding countryside is beautiful for walkers, cyclists etc. We stayed in a villa on the outskirts of the town which was very peaceful and quiet and served as a base for exploring the area.

San Miniato is a lovely hill town with with good access from FI-PI-LI motorway. It is quiet, not crowded with tourists, still good possibilities to eat and drink well. Must see are the tower on top of the hill, the cathedral, palaces and old town streets.
A nice vinery and olive oil farm located at the first km of the pilgrim route Via Francigena from San Miniato to Gambassi Terme. If you are looking for a stay in San Miniato and walk this route, I definitely recommend staying at Marrucola - otherwise you may not be happy with the location as it’s 30 minutes walk from a city centre! The hotel stuff are very welcoming and sweet, the farm itself is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.
The restaurant at Marrucola is actually very nice, they offer homemade oil alongside the dishes.
The hotel is located on a property that seems to be a family home that has been converted into multiple individual rooms. It's very charming, and the property grounds encourage socializing with other hotel guests. They also have a restaurant on premises that serves breakfast in the morning. Dinner was delicious. There is trails nearby that allow you to walk around.
The room was very big, clean and the host is so kind and helpful. Our breakfast was so generous! We loved that it was just a short walk to downtown San Miniato. The neighborhood is quiet which is good. The price is hard to beat given we stayed right in the middle of Truffle Festival season and the city was packed that weekend.
This was a warm and cozy apartment. It had supplies for cooking dinner and a small shop near by to buy groceries. The location was great in relation to Florence as well as relation to San Miniato historical downtown. The host was beyond kind and extended his hospitality as if we were family.
Gorgeous room, great air con in 40 degree heat meant we slept well. Very polite and helpful staff who did all they could to make our stay easy and pleasant. Stunning pool area, only wish we could have stayed longer to make the most of the wonderful hotel. Wonderful wonderful stay.
A nice Villa in the Tuscan region. Very authentic and it really feels like you are experiencing Italy all the way. Clean, nice looking, nice surroundings, good location (close to Florence and the wineries). Polite staff, plenty of parking space, has restaurant (we haven't tried).
The view from the breakfast room and terrace is wonderful. Nice breakfast, you simply get what you ask for, if available. Peaceful part of San Miniato off the tourist part, but with a connecting minibus. Very friendly staff and enjoyable personal style of the place.
Very friendly, delicious breakfast, incredible view and extremely helpful. Aida was an amazing host who went the extra mile in every way. She walked us through San Miniato and shared a bit of her own story. It was like visiting a friend.
Love, Love LOVED. Will recommend to all my friends and family that come to Italy. The town people were sweet too. Perfect get away from the city. Our host was extremely sweet and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious, not seen often in Italy, view, and surrounding was fabulous and the location is just in the middle of everything must-see in North Tuscany vacation.
