My daughter and I visited Italy for the first time this month, and our most favorite memories are of our stay at Villa il Fedino in San Casciano! This is a gorgeous 700-year-old family-owned and -run villa, furnished with restored antiques. We loved the museum-like setting where we were welcomed with warmth and kindness. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with incredible views. It's a very short walk from the villa to town, while the patio in back of the villa overlooks the vast rolling Tuscan hills. The breakfasts were exquisite and varied each day, including pastries, fresh fruit, made-to-order eggs, breakfast pizza, and several additional memorable items. We also highly recommend joining the chef's cooking class! We both agree that cooking with Lorenzo was the best memory of our whole trip! Lorenzo (6th generation) is knowledgeable, fun, and a great teacher. Each participant experienced rolling and cutting pasta. The afternoon also included an organic vegetable salad; risotto; sauce for our fresh pasta; as well as tastings of Tuscan cheese, Chianti Classico wine, and the best extra virgin olive oils in Italy. Very nice hosts, were waiting for us upon arrival. Water and coffee for our disposal. The apartment was very well-equipped, clean, and nicely decorated. Very well heated, as January is a cold month in the area.
