Free parking. Pleasant personel. Decent breakfast.
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and has cheaper accommodations, with easy transport links to the historic center. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano has fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the center of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche center, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called "mignon".

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

We only had a three night stay at the Hotel Delfino in Mestre
It is the perfect position for a value for money ,easy base to visit Venice from.
Unfortunately we did not have time to visit Mestre itself as our focus was always towards Venice.
Mestre is a very short journey by bus two and from the airport and stops outside the hotel which means your holiday can begin within the hour. Perfect. The supermarket was well stocked with anything you should need. With places to eat and regular buses to move around or by foot

This is the second time I have stayed in Hotel Garibaldi, it maybe a small hotel but has a huge heart! Luigi and his colleagues are so kind and helpful and show interest in how you spend your time. The No.2 bus stops right outside to take you to the centre of Venice. Hotel Garibaldi is excellent quality for a a very reasonable price, breakfast will set you up for the day. I will be back again soon!!

Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative...
Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative though you definitely miss out on the old, traditional feel of Venice (I had stayed in a hotel in Venice another time and it was wonderful there). If you eat in Mestre, it's much cheaper. We ate at 'Da Michele'. Excellent food, very good value for money. We did not have any time to explore Mestre per se, though.
The room was comfortable, modern, and seemed newly renovated. It's difficult to find hotels like this directly on the Venetian islands at an affordable price. The hotel is 3 blocks away from the Venezia Mestre train station. Easy access to Venice: on the adjacent street, take bus #2, which brings you directly into Venice (Piazzale Roma, the last stop) in 10 minutes. It was nice to have the choice of a "bar" breakfast of either croissant + coffee or buffet (both at an additional cost).
Lovely quaint neighbourhood with pedestrian roads, sidewalk restaurants and bars. Quiet and did not feel touristy like Venice.
Very easy to get to Venice via bus or tram. 5 minute walk to bus/tram stop and about 15 minutes direct to Venice Pizzale Roma.
Bus to airport was simple. 5 minute walk from airport to the stop. 20 minutes ride.
Highly preferred staying in Mestre rather than the busy, overpriced Venince hotels.
The host was very helpful and friendly! The location is great, close to a supermarket, and to the bus stop (to get to Venice). Also it's near the train station, so it's very convenient if you need to travel somewhere else in Italy. The heating system works well, the apartment was warm, despite the very cold weather outside (I stayed at Casa Milena in winter). Wifi works well! It's very easy to go to Venice from Casa Milena!
Bus stops are close to the hotel - Mestre Stazione F.S. was a 10 minute walk with heavy bags, and there's a bus stop behind the hotel which you can catch to and from Venice (Bus number 2) - approx 10-15 minute trip.
Staff were great on arrival - check-in was easy and stress free.
The location was good - several food places close by.
ATM and snacks are in the lobby, which was handy.
Room size was decent.
The hotel has a very convenient location right in front of the train station in Mestre, with easy access to Venice either by train or bus. There is a discount for hotel clients at the parking lot right next to it, with reserved spots very close to the entrance for those with heavy luggage. The staff was super nice all the time and we were overall really satisfied with the experience.
The room was spacious. Located just 150m to the bus station & Venice mestre train station. Many food options near by. Room was well lit. Bathroom had towels, big basin and heating . The room had balcony too. Tv was big but only italian channels. Wi-Fi is there for multiple devices. Storage cabinets for clothes. Extra bed / cot in the room. Overall a superb experience with the hotel.
This was a great location -- only 5 min walk to Mestre bus/train station to take you directly into Venice. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful -- allowing me to leave bags when I arrived early and giving me advice regarding the bus to the airport when I departed. Breakfast was tasty and they offer quality coffee drinks from their professional machine.
-new,bigger room, clean hotel outside Venezia, with more reasonable price.
(But it tooks around 30mins by bus to Venice, bus+water bus to San Marco is around 55mins)
-Bus station near the hotel just few mins walk.
-Lots of great restaurants around the hotel with really reasonable prices.
-It’s free & convenient to put our luggage at the lobby before check-in.
Hotel Centrale is in a very good location in Mestre, 5 min walking to piazza Ferreto. Just across the street there is a bus stop with direct buses to Venice, and also the big supermarket Eurospar is just across the street. If you check out early, you can leave your luggage for free in a luggage room in hotel. Rooms were cleaned every day.
This is my return visit to Hotel Regit and it was nice to be remembered by some of the staff. They were friendly as usual and I had a lovely time exploring Venice in winter.
The bathroom was a good size and I love all the touches that make the place so pretty.
This hotel is so ideally placed for exploring Venice, Marghera and Mestre.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located to the centre of Mestre, where all the restaurants, cafes and shops are and the bus and tram stops that can take you to Venice or the train station. The stop for the bus (ATVO) to Treviso Airport is also just around the corner. The breakfast was good enough.
Nice location, really close to Mestre central station (the rooms are quiet and you do not hear the noise from the trains). Staff is friendly and breakfast has multiple options. The hotel also has a nice bar with cocktails, wine and snacks at a fair price, which is a nice surprise in a place like Venice. Highly recommend
Great hotel just over the road from Mestre train station so 10 mins into Venice and access to cities all over Italy. Huge rooms, lovely service, on-site cafe, couple of restaurants nearby. It’s about 20 mins walks to downtown Mestre which is lovely and probably often overlooked in favor of Venice. Highly recommended!
Excellent location for visitors to Venice. Literally 2 steps from Venezia Mestre train station and 5 min. walk from the stop of regular bus transport to the seaside resorts and the 2 airports. Comfortable, clean room, serviced daily, very big terrace. Helpful staff.
This property is more like a hotel design, but with the social/communal benefits of a hostel. Brand new, spacious, very clean and inviting. Perfect location 5 minute safe walk to Mestre train to get the 10 minute ride onto Venice Island.
Clean room and bathroom, good breakfast, hotel situated near the tram station which goes to Piazzale di Roma in Venice. Nice and helpful staff. If I were to come to Venice again, I would surely choose Hotel delle Rose in Mestre.
The hotel has a great location, in the very center or Mestre. There is a very good connection with Venice by tram and bus. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. I recommend it.
Lovely traditional family run hotel - and a pretty good price for being close to Venice. Mestre itself is very sweet with good supermarkets, and the bus is easy enough - about 20 minutes to Venice.
