Very close to Piazza San Marco, yet very quiet at night. Beautiful, large terrace which was shaded for parts of the day and all the evening from the intense summer sunshine. Spotless clean. Air conditioned. Helpful and professional staff that greeted us at San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. Venice and surrounding islands ideal location for a wonderful holiday.

Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice. The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel. Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite. The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.

Close to the lively Campo San Filippo & Giacomo moments from St. Mark’s Square, yet perched up on high above a maze-like setting where 4 ancient little alleyways meet in near silence and the crowds of the Piazza have gently petered out, the air-conditioned La Bricola sleeps up to 4 guests in easy-living accommodation on the 3rd floor reached by stairs. Designed for those who like their Venice well-groomed and contemporary, its location allows guests to be as active as they please! Handy for the Biennale at Arsenale & Giardini and for discovering the many faces of this multi-faceted and fabled town, the cosy and compact 2 bedroomed La Bricola offers Wi-Fi, a washing machine and the essentials of home.

Close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and to Vivaldi’s La Pietà … … A short stroll towards the very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe… … Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of the Piazza, gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play***, the bells of the Campanile toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness… Within a short walk of a well-stocked COOP supermarket at Salizada San Lio, to numerous bars and restaurants including Osteria Ruga di Jaffa for drinks and cicheti, Al Giardinetto da Severino, Antica Sacrestia, Luna Sentada, the Michelin-starred Il Ridotto, and the much-lauded Alle Testiere, and to the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips to the Lido beaches and easy travel about town.
