We loved everything about this place. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and unique. The breakfast was more than enough. The wines are wonderful. And best of all the staff. All the staff were so helpful, anxious to please, and went out of their way to make sure you are welcome and happy.

My 2 friends and I stayed in the room with 4 double beds and 2 bathrooms. It was a very large room and had curtains between beds to give us some privacy. Location is great. DO pack a light bag as you have to carry your luggage quite a ways through town where no cars are allowed and Matera has lots of stairs. Wonderful view from the hotel. Unique experience to stay in a cave room. Owner Maria Theresa was a delight and so helpful.

Well maintained property. Excellent location in the historic area of Matera. Nice restaurant options within minutes of walking distance.

The waiter staff was wonderful and the chef was awesome.

The ambiance of a cave space was perfectly captured in the incorporation of the room into rock. Little design touches, such as old suitcases on the walls told you thought and care had gone into the design. The location was convenient to walking anywhere you wanted to go. It felt very safe for two “mature” women traveling alone. Breakfast offered an excellent variety of foods that were tasty and fresh. Staff was friendly and very helpful- helped us book an outstanding walking tour, time at a spa pool, and transportation to our car park when we left. I would return here in an instant!

breakfast was great. a lot of choices for everyone and friendly and helpful staff. The view from the room and the courtyard were awe inspiring.

Our room was the spa suite. It was lovely and very quiet.

I love this property and wish my whole stayed was with this property. The staff was so kind to provide a good size breakfast for me to take way because I had to catch an early bus to Roma and was not able to eat breakfast here. I would love to stay here again the next time I visit Matera.

The location was great. My only advice is take advantage of the baggage service offered (even at the cost) if you are up in age. We are 73 and 76 in age, in great shape, and we managed to get our baggage up the many steps from the taxi drop off location. We wouldn't do it again. Everything else...breakfast, staff, facilities, etc. were great. Highly recommend. Also recommend Luigi, the personal guide arranged by the hotel. At 40 Euro a piece for a personal tour, he was fantastic. The hotel, staff, and tour guide made our adventure getting to and from Matera well worth the effort.

Breakfast was great with a large buffet. The beds were comfortable and the space was roomy. The owners were helpful, especially when we were lost.
