crisp ,clean and comfortable while being good value
The arrival point of low-cost airlines with cheap flights to Milan, beautiful Bergamo is a tourist destination in its own right. In the foothills of the Alps, the city is spread over 2 levels. The main sights are in the upper level, or Città Alta, where sloping, cobbled streets open into pretty squares.
One such square is Piazza Vecchia with its sidewalk cafés, beautiful library and elegant Palazzo della Ragione. Through its arches is the Cappella Colleoni, an impressive chapel with an ornately sculpted façade and even more ornate interior. The nextdoor Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has awe-inspiring frescoes.
Surrounding streets contain several Bergamo old town hotels and B&Bs, while surrounding the whole upper city are 17th-century Venetian walls. There are still remains of the Rocca, the castle that guarded them, and there is also a castle in San Vigilio, a hilltop village reached by a cable car.
A cable car also descends to the modern town, Città Bassa. Nearby is the Accademia Carrara, a fine art gallery, across from the GAMEC modern art museum. The Serie A club Atalanta FC plays in a stadium to the northeast, while southwest is the train station where buses to Orio al Serio Airport depart.
Booking.com has several Bergamo hotels near the airport and the neighboring Orio Center shopping complex.

Visiting Bergamo was one of the most memorable moments of our journey, and I'm eager to share my impressions of this amazing city. Bergamo is a place where every corner is steeped in history, and the air is infused with a sense of Italian charm and elegance.
Walking through the cobbled streets of the Old Town (Città Alta), surrounded by Venetian walls that are part of UNESCO World Heritage, we were struck by the architectural beauty and atmosphere that seems to transport you back in time. The squares, filled with lively cafes and restaurants, offer exceptional dishes of local cuisine, allowing you to enjoy true Italian hospitality.
The New Town (Città Bassa) is equally enchanting, with its elegant shops, modern bars, and panoramic views of the Old Town. The blend of history and modernity, traditional culture and innovation, makes Bergamo a unique place to explore.
However, the most impressive aspect of Bergamo is its people. The locals are welcoming and ready to share their love for their city, making your stay even warmer and more memorable.
Bergamo is not just a tourist attraction; it's a place where history, culture, and modern life merge together, creating something truly magical. I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to visit this city and see its beauty and uniqueness for themselves.

Bergamo is distinctly divided in two sub-cities: Old Bergamo and New Bergamo.
New Bergamo is fine, but nothing special compared to many other Italian towns. Old Bergamo (Bergamo Alta) is a little known Medieval jewel. Amazing. So well preserved, authentic, and yet lively and rich in activities. I was taken away. Highly recommended, and I will be back for sure!

Especially Citia Alta.
Fantastic naturale museum.
In a lovely Irish pub - "The Tusans" I found a fantastic whisky collection.
Best cappuccino was in "Babilonia".
This was my second trip to Bergamo, but not the last.
I hope!
A great stop off when arriving or leaving Italy. We stayed here on our last night, before our 10am flight home from Bergamo airport. There is a shuttle bus, only 50 meters from the entrance to the apartments which takes you directly to the airport for around 2 euros and takes around 15 minutes. The owner can also offer a direct airport transfer for you if you don't want to catch the bus. It was the perfect way to finish our stay in Italy. If you stay here, take the funicular railway up to the old town, it's very beautiful up there.
The room was big and comfortable, we had to book it last minute and there was only a room for 2 with one double bed, and we were travelling with our 2 year old daughter, so we were 3, but the bed was big enough to sleep comfortably. There is a restaurant at the hotel, we didn't try it as we only were there one night but it had a nice menu and it was very convenient to have it at the hotel.
The location is very good, next to the train station, and to take the bus to the airport and to the old town (Bergamo alto)
The hotel is perfectly located - walking distance to Citta Alta, bus and train station. As I came by plane, the bus station of airport transfer bus is just 5 minutes to walk from the hotel. Also, I had a late flight, there was no problem to check-in later. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean, spacious and with all needed facilities. Numerous cafes, restaurant, supermarkets are just around the hotel. Thank you for the stay! I will stay there the next time again :)
Our stay was great! We booked the hotel as we were flying from Bergamo the following morning and didn’t want to stay far from the airport. Beatrice let us leave our car at the hotel over the weekend and even drove us to the airport for our flight! She picked us up when we returned and took us back to the hotel, where our car was parked. We were very satisfied with the service and would like to thank Beatrice for her hospitality!
Great location in Citta Bassa, easily accessible to Citta Alta, trains and buses and the airport. A charming family home, with an accommodating and hospitable on-site host. Comfortable room with coffee, tea, cookies and a fridge, neat and clean. A clean, well-supplied shared bathroom. A happy family home, just the kind of place that an old-time backpacker like me looks forward to enjoying.
I stay at this hotel one a month, every time I'm in Bergamo I stay here, its value for money, the location is great, there is parking close by which is free after 8pm until 8am the next day, there is a great Pizzaria downstairs and a great spot for breakfast next door to that. its close to the cable car? to get to the old town, its close to the train and bus station.
Very nice place! Near to Airport. Very quiet area. Nicely designed B&B. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Nice kitchen area with coffee and snacks. Super host - very friendly and caring. We had really nice conversations about Italy with interesting facts. ;) Highly recommend if staying in Bergamo. Especially if flying early, 10 minutes from airport.
Fantasic hotel to visit the Citta Alta of Bergamo. Very conveniently located, in a beautiful and relaxing surrounding. It feels like you're miles away from the city, but it is a 10-minute walk to get to the main entrance. There is also a beautiful detour through the forest to reach the top of the old city (which is on a hill).
Really liked the place even though we stayed only for a night. We landed in Bergamo airport, took the bus to the old town then a 20 min walk to the place. It is really worth walking as the views are very nice especially at night. There is a big Carrefour supermarket close to the villa. Very quiet area. Definitely recommend!
Lovely hotel, friendly staff. It's near a bus stop which includes the 1A to take you up to Cite Alta(Bergamo Old Town).) Great breakfast choice and there's a terrace restaurant with great views of Cite Alta. Beautiful food but not cheap. The bus stop for the airport is across the street (1 aeroporto).
Location of the hotel was excellent, in the heart of the old town, Città Alta. Staying at a historical/old building was a lovely experience and it was comfy. Parking was also very convenient, you need to walk just a bit though. You may consider dropping your bags in front of the building first.
The staff were fantastic, very approachable and extremely helpful when asked questions relating to Bergamo. The location of the hotel in the new town is perfect, it is beside bus station, very close to shops and about fifteen minutes away from transport to the Old town.
Everything was great. Alex picked us up on the airport. We had a good chat with him a he gave us tips about places to visit in Bergamo and Italy. Breakfast was good with enough variety for everybody to choose. Locality of accomodation is good too, in quiet part of city.
Location was ideal for seeing all central bergamo and citta alta
The breakfast was fair plenty of selection
The hotel bar only opened from 5 till 10 and was tiny
Its far from a 4 star hotel and needs a total refurb at 900 euro for 4 nights its no bargain
A very good hotel, located in the middle of the old town, 5 min walk from the Funicolare Città Alta and another 15 min walk or 5 min bus ride from city center..very pleasant stuff and nice break fast..recomended
Wonderful service -- we were very well looked after by Roberto and the staff. The room and hotel are both very nice and the location is perfect with it's proximity to the Citta Alta and the funicular.
We made a last minute decision to stay close to the airport and found this hotel. Super friendly staff and a great breakfast on the hotel balcony in the morning. Perfect end to our trip to Italy.
The hotel is gorgeous with original antique furniture and designs
The breakfast was the best we’ve had in Italy, lovely cakes and covid safe
Staying in a real royal bedroom felt magical
The location in Bergamo Citta Alta is absolutely perfect, right by all the main areas of attraction. The hotel has been refurbished to a high spec, I loved it.
