An Italian Masterpiece

Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic center. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.

Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.

For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

Hotel Villa Agape was perfectly located for my daughter and i to visit her wedding venue, we took advantage of the free parking and we ate at the Hotel Restaurant twice for dinner and both meals were superb. The Hotel is a good 40 min walk from the centre however it's a really lovely walk and they also offer a shuttle service throughout the day which we used a number of times. The Hotel is just that little bit out which is nice as it's quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the busy centre (it would be a godsend in summer). We enjoyed aperativo at the bar on a number of ocassions and the staff could not have been more helpful, from Checkin, to bar staff, to Restaurant staff, shuttle drivers and housekeeping all were super friendly and extremely helpful, would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Villa Agape next time we are in Florence.

Booking advance tickets for the museums and galleries is recommended as is the passpartout ticket for Uffizi Palazzo Pritti and Boboli Gardens. The gardens are great place to relax in and soak up glorious views of the Tuscan countryside surrounding the city.. Cafes and bars are welcoming and generally not too expensive. The view from the Giotto Campanile was great, but you have to walk a lot of stairs for it. If you like walking you might also want to try going to Fiesole on foot. By booking the museums online they made me pay extra, but I ended up getting there early and finding out there was no line (Jannuary) and that I could enter an hour earlier... I really liked to eat at Osteria Nuvoli, very cheap and very good, compared to some tourist traps I found where everything cost double and they would frown if you didn't order extra bullshit.

    Florence is just amazing.

Florence is just amazing. So many of the world's greatest pieces of art/culture/architecture all in the one place. That also means lots and lots of tourists - can make walking about on the narrow pavements tricky and can also mean the nights are a bit noisy in places. Get up early to take advantage of the city at it's best and always book ahead!

Roomy apartment, has everything you need and a great location near all the main tourist attractions and museums. I have never had a bigger room in Italy, which is a luxury, believe me. I really enjoyed that a lot. The staff was very helpful and flexible, allowing us to stay a bit after the official checkout in order to accommodate our schedule. All in all a hreat accommodation in the ideal center of Florence. No regrets, would re-book if in Florence again.

Wow! What a Fantastic treasure is this place in the best location in Florence. Very clean, vary spacious, super quiet. Even though you are 2 min from Ponte Vecchio, you can not hear any sounds due to double glass windows. Great A/C in the bedrooms to cool down in hit summer days. I've never stayed in a hotel in Italy with such a spacious bathroom. Large bath towls. Top quality vanities. I like the hardwood floors as it keeps everything clean too.

This is a hidden gem in the hills of Florence, just 15 minutes drive from the city center. Martina and her husband are perfect hosts, gave us the best tips for restaurants (Zocchi) and ice cream (Badiani). The apartment was spacious, well-equipped, and our terrace let no wish unanswered: full view of the Hills of Tuscanny right in front of our eyes. The pool is amazing. We are often in Italy but this was clearly one of the best experiences.

Everything! Such a lovely authentic place with great hosts, Daniel & Alyssa. We felt as if we were in Italy all the time rather than only once we got outside of the usual generic hotel. (A trip highlight was our host’s recommendation that we also try visiting the lesser known Lucca on a day we were going to visit Pisa & we loved it so much we stayed there & didn’t bother with Pisa at all! - best tip ever!)
