We’ve spent 3 amazing days in Ishigaki at André and Shizuka’s place. We really loved it, Especially the surrounding nature, closenese to the ocean and great, welcoming and open hosts. Next time we have to come back for a longer period of time. We highly recommend it!

We had the best time here. Shizuka and André were the nicest hosts ever and the area is great with a small beach and some really lovely cafés and restaurants. We rented a car and so it was easy to get to all the best spots. Be aware, that the area is a bit more quiet and in nature - highly recommend for a relaxed stay!

This place is amazing! Ideal for the beach as well as forest lovers. The hosts are wonderful and very helpful (provided us with good tips and helped us get around), and we had a great time chatting in their beautiful garden. Every morning, we were offered delicious fresh-squeezed juice! Of course, you have access to everything you need in the house and if something else is needed, all you need to do is ask. I wish I can visit Ishigaki soon again just to stay in this place. Many thanks to you Shizuka & Andre for making our stay at your place a great experience.

We loved this place so much! The room and facility is very comfortable, with a super relaxing balcony surrounded by lots of trees and flowers, and the hotel is located in a peaceful village. The nearby beach is very nice and serene (it felt like a private beach) with lots of strange-shaped rocks (due to erosion by waves). And the best of all, the host couple are super friendly and helpful (we enjoyed every single place recommended by them). Highly recommended especially for couples! Thanks Shizuka & Andre for making our stay there really comfortable and enjoyable!!

This house was truly something. First off, the location was incredible, with a quiet beach just a few minutes away (on foot) and a delicious bakery (Ishigaki Labo) a few minutes drive away. The neighborhood was quiet at night and because we were far from the city lights, we could see the sky filled with stars at night - we even saw the milky-way! But most of all, the owners of the house made this trip magical. Shizu and Andre are the most kind-hearted, fun people, and they brightened up our trip with interesting conversations and incredible service. We had a very romantic getaway here and would truly recommend this place to others!

Nosoko is a quiet village in the northern part of Ishigaki Island. We have Mountains and Wilderness on one side and then there is the beach, a three minutes walk away (360 m). Lots of pocket beaches. No tourists! You are almost alone on those kinds of private beaches. Great to snorkel, you will find all kinds of exotic fishes and corals and a million other things underwater. Or you can track through the woods and hike on mount Mape to enjoy an exceptional view of the other islands of the Yeayama island group. Wake up to the sound of wild birds in the tropics and take a break! Watch the myriad of starry things flowing through the Milky Way. (Ishigaki Island is known for the clear skies and so starry nights. How about such a quiet and relaxing vacation? Guests can spend their time on the 1st floor of a 2-story house (the 2nd floor is our residence), surrounded by greenery, there is a wooden terrace where you can have a BBQ, and a garden with a hammock. You can take a nap or read a book in it and feel the soft breeze from the ocean under a shadow spending canopy of tropical leaves. Kitchen, shower room and toilet are in a separate room. The Guesthouse is far away from the main road - no traffic noise, only sometimes an old tractor passed by. The terrace gives you although the possibility to make a BBQ. The kitchen-bathroom unit is separated from the actual living space.
About us: We are a married couple of Shizuka (Japanese) and André (German). We live in Ishigaki for more than 13 years now. We are interested in the Okinawa culture, that is one reason why we are here, one of the others is: the magic of the beautiful Yaeyama Islands. Besides, I am a designer (andregessner . com) working home and Shizuka works in an ocean research center and knows lots of fishy things, lol. Please contact us and ask us for everything! In addition, possible activities during your stay: Japanese-, German-, or English conversation classes, Japanese-, Okinawan- and German food cooking classes, folk craft making experience, etc etc etc... * Or you can rent a gas BBQ plus a gas cartridge, and make you own BBQ on your terrace. (1500 yen a day) Be aware, because it is a place surrounded by rich nature, spiders, geckos, mosquitos, and ants may enter the room. You will have mosquito screens, protecting your room from those creatures. If you don't like to live near the jungle, you should better rent a hotel room in Ishigaki city.
We have two restaurants in the village, and then there is the beach...that's it. Some other restaurants around, but u will need a car to get there. Shopping is the best downtown, you will find several supermarkets and tons of lil shops with all kinds of stuff. Also endless restaurants and bars. Or you can make trips via ferry boats to the other islands, we will help you by finding interesting tours. Also, we know where to dive and what are the best dive shops...Ishigaki has some very interesting dive sites, e.g. a manta cleaning station. Anyway, we know the islands very well and can help to find the right adventures for you.
