The world's oldest hotel according to Guinness, Hoshi Ryokan was established in 718 and has been operated by 46 generations of the same family. It offers hot springs and traditional dishes. It is a 5-minute walk to Osshobe Park. Rooms at Hoshi have a tatami floor and Japanese-style futon bedding. The wide windows look out on peaceful greenery. All rooms have a TV, green tea and an en-suite bathroom with bath. Nata Temple is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. JR Kaga-Onsen Train Station is a 20-minute drive away and free shuttle is available by reservation only. Guests can relax with a massage, enjoy the sauna or sing karaoke. The hotel has a garden and a pottery gallery. A Japanese breakfast and traditional multi-course dinner are served in the dining room.
