Ryokan Temple Lodging Shukubo Kakurinbo
409-2524 Yamanashi, Minobu, 3510, Japan – Great location - show map
Everything about the property and staff was perfect. The room was exceptionally clean, the facility was well maintained and the food was perfect. most importantly, the staff was very welcoming which made the stay even more comfortable.

Wonderful meals! Exceptional quality and kept me full for hours. The staff was helpful and kind and assisted me in locating my wallet when I lost it at a station. The bath was beautiful, and I felt rejuvenated after every visit. The nearby temples are lovely, and I felt that I learned a lot during my stay! I had a wonderful discussion with Ms. Higuchi, the mistress of the inn and mastermind behind the meals, and I was beyond impressed with her vision for expansion. She is an absolute star, and I was inspired by her ambition and determination! The Kimono Experience was also delightful—I had never done anything like it before, and it made me feel so elegant! Highly recommended!! Can’t say enough about how happy I was to be there!

There was much to like with the temple stay at Kakurinbo: We loved the whole setting and especially the garden view of our room. The vegetarian dinners and breakfast meals were very tasty, so we highly recommend! It was very special to try on one of the wedding kimonos decorating the hallways and do a photo shoot. The hot bath can be booked for private use and was wonderful (and a life-saver for warming up). There are many temples to explore in Minobu even beyond the impressive Kuonji temple complex. The peak of Minobusan can be reached by ropeway for a fantastic view of the peak of Mt. Fuji and also the Southern Alps. Even better, though more strenuous, is hiking up Minubosan passing several temples and a shrine along the way.

Big, nice temple, quiet, good location, peaceful. Not cheap, but good quality. Well organized. Good food for extra price.

We enjoyed all aspects of our stay. Food quality, room size and comfort, cleanliness, staff friendliness, location all met or exceeded our expectation.

Caring and thoughtful staff, fantastic food and very quiet location and relaxing atmosphere. What a great experience it was, I hope to come back one day.

Gourmet Japanese dinner and breakfast. Excellent service and hospitality with staff good level of English. Great facilities with bath and garden. Very quiet place.

The food is amazing and original. The rooms were super stylish and cozy. The staff as nice as can be and the temple is beautiful. They speak great English too!

Everything was excellent. I love the dinners best. They were quite beyond our expectations (there is even vegan option). The room was clean. Staff can speak English. They also offered free try-on of Kimono.

This place really feels like family. The staff is exceptionally friendly, they make you feel welcome from the moment you enter. They have English speaking staff and also guidance book. They will make your stay very comfortable and you will feel like at your aunties home. I can highly recommend this for retreat types of trip, especially yoga, spiritual, team building etc. amazing.

I'm traveling solo, so what is the difference between the one guest rooms? Is it just the meals that are included (I'd like both breakfast and dinner)?Kakurinbo is a traditional shukubo, or temple lodging. Guests sleep on futon mattresses on tatami-matted floors. As such, guests of the same party share rooms. Guests traveling solo have their own room. Breakfast and dinner are optional and should be requested when booking. Guests are advised that Minobusan is a village and therefore there is no supermarket and eat-out options, especially in the evening, are limited.Answered on January 6, 2020
