“My partner and I recently enjoyed two stays in the private room at Sumida Nagaya during an extended trip around Japan. Ahead of our arrival in Tokyo, Yuri gave some excellent advice on how to travel from the airport and she continued to give great travel advice throughout our trip. The rooms and communal spaces are very clean, with an airy modern feel, and the futon beds were the comfiest we encountered in Japan. The staff are friendly and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together on our last night. Sumida Nagaya may not be located in the busy districts of Shibuya or Shinjuku but it is remarkably well connected by bus and by metro, and you will struggle to find better value for money in Tokyo. The cafe downstairs is open several days a week and the iced tea and cakes are delicious. We left feeling that we had made some new friends and we will certainly be booking Sumida Nagaya again on our next trip to Tokyo. ” Read more

“We stayed for two nights at Sumida Nagaya and was a perfect stay! Yuri couldn't be a better host! When we arrived late to the check-in she was very understanding and friendly, she prepared for us coffee for breakfast both mornings and cut super tasty apples grown in the area, she even let us try some cake from the nice coffee shop that shares the common space of the hostel! It was so good that we bought some for breakfast the second morning. The place itself is beautifully designed and very unique, loved the decoration and the wabi-sabi vibe. Stayed in the double room with traditional tatami and it was private and roomy enough. The futon beds were surprisingly comfortable and we had our best quality sleep of our trip through Japan.
