The location was lovely, outside the city. The Ryokan was amazing , so much history inside and outside, it would take days to appreciate it all. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and very professional. The food exceeded our expectations, I've been traveling in Japan on and off over 25 years and this was my favorite Ryokan to date. A very traditional experience you can't get in many places.

The room was spacious and with a nice view, the half board was generous and with authentic food, and the onsen was very cosy and clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the overall experience was excellent. Communicating with the team was good and easy.

The food was most definitely a highlight—both dinner and breakfast were exceptional kaiseki-style meals, using local ingredients from the Kanazawa region. The staff were incredibly kind, patient, and helpful all throughout—even despite my limited Japanese! And the onsen was also a wonderful experience; my mother and I were able to have a private onsen/bath experience, since there were few guests. I loved how immersed in nature the ryokan was as well—it felt otherworldly.

It was a truly memorable experience; we will never forget our stay here. We had been to a ryokan before we had children and we wanted to share the experience with our twelve and fourteen year old. The staff was exceptional - so welcoming, friendly and caring (my son had quite a few random nose bleeds and they were so helpful and considerate). The Onsen was a fantastic experience, especially for Westerners. It was so tranquil and relaxing. The food was beautifully presented and was a feast to behold. We did struggle with some of the tastes and textures! The staff was exceptional and made us feel very comfortable during dinner and breakfast when it was obvious that we were finding it difficult to eat some of the food! We loved all the interesting artefacts and spent a good hour wandering around the ryokan and discovering all the nooks and crannies. The room was fabulous - so traditional and different to what we are used to at home! Thank you for a fantastic Japanese experience!

This definitely was a traditional Japanese Ryokan in every way. We very much enjoyed the experience. The room was very nice, as was the staff, and the hot springs were great. One observation was that the menu may be quite challenging for some. It sure was for us, at no fault whatsoever to the staff. Everything was prepared well and presented very nicely. The menu I believe was based on the tastes typical to Japan about 500 years ago. It featured all sorts of new textures and flavors that to our Western palette was EXTREMELY challenging. We got through all four meals and appreciated it for what it was. That said, I highly recommend also bringing some backup food and or a bottle of Tabasco. It's the only way I got through each meal (to the horror of my wife), but it's true. Better some spice and the ability to try each dish, or spend the entire time stifling the gag reflexes. lol.

Absolutely lovely attendants, so gentle, considerate and caring. Everything is perfectly clean and fresh. Food is a real adventure like travelling around Japan while sitting at the table.

Amazing Ryokan that's over 200 years old. Staff and service was amazing. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room and cannot fault anything. They even accommodate my small toddler with meals and other items. The food were delicious and the onsen was amazing. The garden is just beautiful and serene.
