the best stay ever!!! this is a small ryokan type hotel owned and run by the friendliest, most helpful family. I was in love with every aspect of it - the clean and beautiful Japanese-styled rooms, the high-tech bathrooms, the ~secret~ bar in the back, and of course our host Tome, who gave us the best local recommendations and made our stay so good. thank you!

The Ryokan is stunning and the room was the perfect balance of cosy and stylish with every convenience. The ryokan is absolutely stunning. It feels like you have stepped into a zen garden. The decor and little garden are very pretty, everything is clean and well done. And the small bar is a great bonus! The location is good too - in a charming residential area which really pretty and very well connected. But the best part was the warm hospitality of Tome, the owner. She is absolutely lovely, and was happy to provide lots of recommendations which were fantastic! She is so helpful, and made us fall in love with Kyoto! Thank you so much :)

Ryokan Mugen was AMAZING. My only regret is that we didn’t book more nights. Not only was the actual room and whole place beautiful the hosts were so lovely and welcoming and helpful. The facilities and amenities were fantastic and we enjoyed a wonderful welcome drink in the private bar and got to know our host. I will 100% come back here if we visit Kyoto again. An absolute must if you’re visiting Kyoto to stay here.
