Founded in 1943, Nishiyama Bekkan has long served as a beloved guesthouse in Onomichi. Its legacy continues with "Ryokan Onomichi Nishiyama," which has meticulously preserved the building as well as its furniture, lighting, tea ceremony implements, hanging scrolls, and dishware. Some elements are kept in their original state, others are restored to their former glory, and yet others are innovatively repurposed. For instance, wood from the tokonoma has been crafted into room keys, and roof tiles have been reimagined as entrance decor. Through these thoughtful initiatives, we aim to celebrate Onomichi's cultural heritage and perpetuate the art of Japanese craftsmanship into the future.

Ryokan Onomichi Nishiyama" reopened in April 2023, inheriting the culture of Onomichi. Our hotel was selected as one Michelin Key Hotel in 2024. Guest rooms are scattered around a garden with seasonal charms. The guest rooms, which inherit the traditional beauty of Japan while providing comfort, are ideal for a relaxing stay while experiencing the culture of Onomichi.
For dinner, we offer creative cuisine using local ingredients. In the open-plan restaurant, you can dine while communicating with the chef and other staff. A sommelier is on hand to provide wine and sake to match the cuisine.
For breakfast, we offer Japanese cuisine that is uniquely Japanese.
The lounge offers a variety of local beers and drinks. We also have pastry specialties and snacks. Guests are free to spend their time in a comfortable space in a renovated historic building in Onomichi.
