Very casual, user friendly. Basics are in place. Nice owner/manager, communicative during the very little interaction we had. Clean. Presented honestly. Convenient from ferry landing.

Stylish and comfortable glamping with amazing views and cute sauna. Tents are spacious and clean, the make-your-own bbq dinner is delicious. Helpful and friendly staff, we really loved our stay.

Close to the ferry and local bus stop. Quiet area. Sento near by. Nice staff. There was a lounge to heat up food, watch TV. Price very reasonable.

It was peaceful and not crowded, even during cherry blossom season. The galleries were wonderful and you could spend 4 of 5 days relaxing, sight seeing, visiting port towns, galleries and the other islands. After a hectic tour of Japan, these last few days of our trip here was a welcome wind down. Very easy to get around the island using the town bus snd the free art shuttle bus. We had cheap but cute accommodation st the seaside park close to more expensive Benesse House accommodation and were able to have a buffet breakfast at Benesse which gave us a touch of luxury. As food options are limited make sure you book if you want a sit down meal though as we were caught out and had to walk 15 mins to another little town for dinner one night. Luckily it was a great meal and gorgeous walk.

The location and quiet were most welcome.
The location and quiet were most welcome. Our host Marc was extremely patient and helpful, with the best advice given to rent a car as my handicapped husband would have struggled up and down the slopes of Naoshima. It was such a joy to drive around the island at our own time and target, and then to come back to a wonderfully warm and beautiful home. Indeed, just like home! Would be great for a multi-tier family - there’s so much room!

The city is for those who really want to see art and architecture. The experience is wonderful. Things only open between 10am and 4pm. Outside of these hours, it is an empty city, everything closed and no people.

Fabulous art installations and galleries to visit in the area. Well worth a visit. At least two. preferably three full days required if you wish to visit Teshima as well - worth it for the Teshima Art Museum.

Naoshima is small and not overly populated but it does see its fair share of tourists there to see a few galleries: Benesse House Museum, Chichu, and a few others - mostly starchitecture. Please make sure to reserve tickets before hand if this is your intention for coming here. We didn't and we were unable to go into the museum we had come to see. It was our mistake, but there was not any flexibility in regards to this. It is fair enough to preserve the experience, just be aware this is the situation. Some of these museums are also very much about the architects rather than a piece of interesting architecture housing an expansive or unique collection.

Lots of amusing, nice and odd art on the island.
Lots of amusing, nice and odd art on the island. We rented bikes, which was good for going around. Beware that there are very few open restaurants, several were fully booked, so we ended up with just one simple place where we could dine. So we recommend Naoshima, but don't expect gourmet dining. You may as well end up bying a boxed meal at the 7eleven.
