Participating in the morning Buddhist ceremony was very special. The food was fantastic. Excellent hospitality.
United States of AmericaIt’s just in front of The Red Gate, one of the main attractions of Koyasan. The hosts were very accommodating especially because my flight was a bit delayed but they allowed me to check in after the 5PM cutoff. The onsen was fabulous!
PhilippinesThis temple is 900 years old, and the experience of staying here really was the highlight of our entire two week trip to Japan. I highly recommend you stay here if you get the chance. it’s right in the middle of all the must see places in Koyosan, so location is great. I’ve seen a couple reviews complaining about the cold, but our room was toasty warm and perfect for us. The morning ceremony and traditional breakfast were both amazing and authentic experiences that we’ll never forget. We loved it!

MalaysiaEverybody was really friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way translating everything for us from food to the morning prayer. They also noticed that my older parents struggled with sitting on the floor and their knees and brought chairs and served all meals on little table towers. Other than that there is wifi, food is great, little sento bath and comfortable futons (and even soft pillows). Dinner is served at 5:30 so make sure to arrive by 5pm.
JapanThe property was quite traditional & clean. they let us in to keep the baggage & taking shower before the check-in. They were considerate of our night tour as well so extended the curfew timing during night. We had a wonderful time experiencing the traditional monk breakfast & even other activities like Shakyo/Shabutsu. The morning meditation was incredible.

Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, Yochi-in is a historic temple and an accommodations for visitors. Just to the left of entering sanmon gate, there is a stone garden created by the famous Mirei Shigemori and designated a natural monument by the Japanese government.Guests can experience temple activities such as meditation, sutra copying and tracing of Buddhist deities at an additional charge, if reserved in advance. Guests can also participate in morning prayers, which do not require reservation.
All rooms at Yochi-in are Japanese-style and feature tatami (woven-straw) floors. Traditional futon bedding, a TV, fan and heater are provided. Bathroom and toilet are shared with other guests. The spacious public baths feature a hot tub. On-site luggage storage is available.
Guests with reservations that include a meal can enjoy delicately prepared homemade vegetarian meals featuring seasonal dishes. Convenience stores are located within a 3-minute walking distance from the property.
It is a 10-minute walk from the famous Kongobuji Temple. Guests can visit the Buddhist temple, Danjogaran, just a 3-minute walk away.
