Great value, friendly staff. Clean. Definitely recommended. Very informative and very honest. Unfortunately it was raining so we weren't able to see much of the surrounds but enjoyed our stay.

We arrived really late (3:00 am) and they had our key out ready for us. That was very nice and convenient! The beds were comfortable and provided a bug net that was helpful. The location was great and the people were very friendly.

The location was just on the boarde of town so it felt like being in the forest with all the trees but a short walk could take you in to town. The people werevery friendly at the Happy Elephants and making sure we had what we needed. The price was great and for FYI, the toilet was bucket dump along with the shower.

This is a really unique place, and if you have adjusted to cold showers and mosquito nets in SE Asia, you'll be okay. If you've ever been excited about the treehouses on Airbnb or here, I'd heavily advise staying at Happy Elephant — I'd especially like to visit here as a child, as it's a sprawling path of wooden walkways and steep steps. Most people are in town for the elephants, and I experienced them elsewhere, so my main Mondulkiri experience was going into the jungle with a kruu boran, a medicine man from the Bunong minority. We walked through the hills around his home, over logs crossing rivers (this was just taking a simple walk to him, not so for me), all the while finding roots, vines, flowers, and leaves with traditional healing powers. It was a once in a lifetime experience and amazing to see someone in their element like this.
