“We stayed in Mantra, a triple room with balcony. It was beautifully decorated and spacious. We also appreciated the environmentally minded plastic-free touches, like soaps and shampoos in pump dispensers and free filtered water in refillable glass bottles. The breakfast at Seed Cafe was healthy and delicious, with the best coffee we'd had in a long time while traveling in Asia. We were sad it is closed on Mondays, though, which meant during our two-night stay, we could only eat there once. “I stayed in three different places around the same price range during my last trip to Sri Lanka - Prana Home was definitely my favorite. The rooms are beautiful and clean. It's in an old colonial mansion, so has that kind of aesthetic, but the accommodations seem pretty new. Having traveled for business, I also liked that the hotel was so close to many different cafes where I could work. Black Cat was especially nice. “We stayed in a different room this time as we asked for the most quiet room. And it was more quiet indeed, which was wonderful. The room is so pretty with beautiful rugs (but they slipped!) and the bed was very comfy, although it was squeaking and moving quite a bit :) but no big deal for us. Everyone is super chill and kind and one guy at the reception in particular was super helpful. Big thank you to him. The café downstairs for breakfast and lunch is great and we love the overall vibe. They only have 5 rooms and it feels very homey. They are super flexible and let us stay in the room until we left in the late afternoon which was wonderful and made our last day so much more comfortable.” Read more
