Highly recommended Homestay. Two rooms run by a lovely, friendly and helpful family. It’s out of town, quiet and remote. Much better than staying in Ella Town. Right next to the train tracks and close enough to anything you might need. Great view. Delicious breakfast.

Rose Dale Homestay Ella was one of those places that you would wonder, whether you have made a mistake and booked a overpriced 5 star hotel instead of a little lodge that you've booked in a hurry. The scenery around is that much mezmerising, with a heartwarming customer and room service. The place is run by a local family who is very cheerful and professional at the same time. Being a local and have visited many places around the country, you wouldn't be expecting any surprices regarding the food, in a place with a reasonable prite tag like this. But man oh man, you are in for a treat with this place. Even though many of the dishes were traditional Sri Lankan, the use of the local spices were outstanding. You could almost be deceived that these dishes were prepared in a Michelin starred restaurent. This is a place you must check-out and spend a night if you're near the area, which is also kind of surprisingly economical.

This was an unforgettable stay at Ella. This is my seconds stay at this place. The owners were very friendly, the food view and everything were perfect. Highly recommended if yore are looking a great affordable place near Ella 10/10.

From before we even arrived the hospitality of this family was fabulous. We were met from our tuk tuk to help carry our bags over the tracks and when we asked if we could have a cup of tea they bought a whole tray out with biscuits and bananas, so lovely. The room itself is very spacious and so comfortable, we slept incredibly well here. The view is amazing and you regularly see trains passing by over on the tracks. The bathroom was clean and had hot water and we had tea making facilities in the room. We were offered the use of an umbrella on the first night so we could walk to get dinner (I recommend you try Garden View which is next door!). The location is a 15 minute walk along the train tracks into the centre of Ella and its pretty cool to stand to the side when a train comes along and wave to everyone. Breakfast was served every morning on the balcony and was so plentiful, lots of variety and so yummy and filling! Nothing was too much trouble and I cannot recommend enough!

We can highly recommend this place. The staff is super friendly, the room is spacious and clean and you have a nice terrace where they serve your breakfast. You can reach Ella within a 15min walk over the railway and you can start the Ella's rock hike from there, so need to order tuktuks.

This is a beautiful homestay where you can relax, the room terrace is big and has an amazing view where you can also enjoy your breakfast. The breakfast and dinner are delicious and big. The place is 20min walking from the center of Ella using the railway or you can go there using Tuk Tuk which will leave you at the end of the road and you will just need to walk 30 meters on the railway. If you contact them you can reach the place easily. The host family is incredible and help you in every moment. I wish them all the best for the future. I highly recommended ROSEDALE HOMESTAY!
