A lot of cool restaurants and cafes around. I personally loved The Grove! A good variety of cuisine to satisfy a variety of palettes If you like to stay closer to nature, you can head to Beddegama wetland park. A quiet lake and thin forest merges. This town also has fresh fruit and vegetables markets to fill up on the great exotic goodness Sri Lanka has to offer. Shopping for fashion without tourist traps are also easily accessible. And personally I'd recommend Nugegoda Apartment to stay for all of these conveniences + the amazing family you will meet to help you out in every way.

Best place to set as your base when exploring colombo and live/eat like a local. Since its just 1.5km away from Colombo its perfect. Taxi hailing apps work like a charm at this location and the public transport service (like bus 138 and 176) are the best ! Takes you to the beaches, city highlights & even flee markets inland. Also, its a very safe town - specially for solo female traveler, like myself

Nugegoda sits 1.5km outside of the city of Colombo, hence it is considered a suburb. But it's a fantastic location to mix with the locals and get a sense and taste of their backgrounds. I stayed at Nugegoda Apartment and to this day, highly recommend it! I met the most kind human being there, Noel and his family who owns the place - always looks into the happiness of their guests. Nugegoda has a wide variety of food too - so foodies TAKE NOTE! And just 1 bus ride in to the heart of the city.
