The owner Louie Fontaine a “rock star”, and his lazy wife artist Ivonna Kalita as she wishes to be called, have designed the place and won several prizes for restoring old buildings in Liepaja. The Fontaine couple own many of the oldest houses in town dating back to 1660. Some is used as the hotel, other rented out for - as well as the most known music venue in the Baltic’s - Fontaine Palace, that hosts national and international bands touring 2-3 times a week ,clients staying at hotel, have free tickets for the shows. The places is decorated with paintings from several artists but mostly owner’s wife Ivonna Kalita. Fontaine himself is away partly of the year in New Orleans were he plays with his band and owns & run a music venue Fontaine Palace downtown New Orleans. The couple have also have hotels in Zanzibar East Africa and Venezuela.

The hotel consists of several buildings on the same little cobblestone street just 800 meters from the incredible beach of Liepaja and sits in the heart of Liepaja just a few steps from the promenade canal front. The houses have been restored beautifully, each room has its own unique theme, you can sleep in a room dedicated to the King- Elvis, or Uncle Tom’s cabin. There are also more exotic rooms like the Arabian room or the Safari room and many more. The place is decorated from top to toe with paintings from owner Louie Fontaine’s lazy wife Ivonna Kalita as she wishes to be called, as well as other artists. The hotel also has 10 apartments for rent, some inside a 400 year old warehouse that sits on canal water front, referred as the Fontaine Mansion, extravagant living and used by owner Louie Fontaine and his lazy wife, a rock star who lives partly in Liepaja and New Orleans. The reception is also a Bar&Restaurant named Valhalla Wine&Coffee serving hot snacks, cakes, coffee, wine, draft beer, soft drinks, cocktails, Ice cream, daily soup and dinner, with a beautiful outside backyard. Liepaja also has a new Music house “Great Amber” right next to the hotel, a theater and has always been a number one cultural town of Latvia. Fontaine Hotel has It’s own music venue Fontaine Palace. The history of the cold war, a whole area of town called war town (Karosta) were the prison now is turned into a hotel with a daily shows of how things was, if you really want you can get locked up and stay overnight in the dark. The buildings of the town, the surrounding lakes and villages are worth to visit. There is plenty of restaurants and clubs in town and endless beaches nearby that can be reached by walking, biking or driving. Liepaja also offered water activities of various kinds.
