This place has the feel of a rough and ready desert town.
This place has the feel of a rough and ready desert town. It has a variety of people who live here, and was dry as a bone when we stayed. We were hoping to hike the surrounding countryside but couldn’t get it together so walked around the various neighbourhoods. This turned out to be a great experience. We found a very interesting Berber village, a completely unexpected Catholic monastery, and a very bizarre but beautiful guesthouse.
We were surprised by this town and think that you might be too.

This is our second trip to Midelt which is a small country town in the High Atlas. Although it was mid-April the weather was cold and the surrounding mountains were covered in snow. This is a town you pass through on the way to other places, though it is worthwhile taking a stroll through the centre. We were disappointed to discover that Kasbah Myriam, an excellent carpet shop, had closed down to the death of the owner. A real shame.
This is truly the best stop for travellers! We arrived when it was dark and Mohammed immediately found us, greeted us warmly and showed us the place. It is a shared flat, so there could have been other people staying there but we had the place to ourselves. Beds are comfortable, shower and bathroom is clean. Mohammed's shop is also very handy and right next to the flat, he has great fresh fruits, veggies and meat. Midelt also has a beautiful monastery called Notre Dame d'Atlas that we were able to visit after staying here.
Awesome! The hotel has an attached cafe bar. Order your drink, cafe 10dr, orange juice 12, banana juice 15dirham. They bring drink to your room for no extra cost. Parking is super easy, i n front of the hotel. Absolute safe. Medina is 6-10 mins walk. Street vendors, food, fruit clothes on good price. Rooms are clean, breakfast is great. Coffe, orange juice, milk, croassoint, bread, olive, butter, hot porridge.
Beautiful Kasbah overlooking the valley a bit outside of Midelt. The view over the orchards is stunning. Mustafa who owns the place is an outstanding host, very friendly and always eager to make his guests comfortable ina familiar atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, we would definitely recommend the Kasbah as an overnight when heading either south or north between the Sahara desert and Fes.
The apartment is really wonderful, modern and clean. It was really nice to find such a comfortable space after sleeping in a tent in the dessert for a few nights. Even the laundry machine was a new model and really large. Midelt is the perfect stop for a journey between Merzouga and Fez. Our host met us when we arrived and was very kind. There is street parking in front.
Very nice experience, I want to thank the manager in Midelt for his kindness and generosity everything was perfect at our first night in Midelt, the traditional cuisine, the place was clean and comfy, the service....
The second night in Merzouga desert was awesome too, the bivouac is clean the people was kind the camel ride also wow just wow.
Definitely recommended
First, the staff, they were very welcoming and friendly. Second, everything went smoothly without any complications. Finally, the comfort which I think was the best thing in the hotel so far. And all of that for a reasonable price.
Very beautiful place, a mix of old & new Moroccocan Style. Comfortable room away from the heat. The Host was very hospitable & kind. Would definitely return another time. Super cosy roof terrace with lots of places to hang out.
The staff and other guests really made this place a special stop. The hotel is pretty basic looking but it had all we needed for a stop between ages and Merzouga desert. They even did some laundry for us.
It a hotel right in the center with an impressive terrace with a view over the whole Midelt and the mountains. My room was on the roof, which was cozy. There is a place to eat on the ground floor.
The beds were extra comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Excellent choice for a one night stop over in Midelt. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
an European style mansion turned into a boutique hotel with a lot of charm and yet tremendous comfort. the dinner here is simple, affordable and delicious.
A truly exceptional hotel, with a warm and highly professional staff. We wholeheartedly recommend this establishment as Cultural Morocco Tours operators
