When I arrived I thought I would just go for a hike on Zomba Plateau, but there is a lot more to do in Zomba. I ate mainly at Pakachere where the food was fantastic, but also went to The Chocolate Factory for lunch which was nice but a bit more expensive. The market is great; no hassle and people leave you alone. I want to come back to see the botanic gardens and maybe learn to play golf.

Zomba is a small town, but if you go up the mountain, the views are spectacular. There is a quaint little shop located at the bottom called African Heritage that has a coffee shop, gift store, gym, even a squash room. I spent most of my time up the plateau, at the Sunbird Ku Chawe, and the nature is wonderful. There is a little picnic area overlooking the dam and a waterfall that is overseen by the water board. It is a small fee mk200 per adult, but it is a great place to hang out. The baboons are everywhere and are very playful in the mornings.
