Desk staff was friendly and the resturant was good (they even delivered to our room) but the rooms are dark and dingy. Our carpet had lots of stains and smelled like smoke. Our shower also barley dripped water. The "deck" area was nice to have. We were traveling with our dogs so unsure if the cleanliness was due to a "pet" room but overall disappointing stay. The street noise is also pretty loud if you're a light sleeper.

Clean and friendly! Durango and the surrounding area has a long, complex history and the museums are a great way to learn about it. Beautiful churches and open plazas . We felt safe and secure, especially in the central zone well into the evening.

Got here just before Easter.
Got here just before Easter. Had a nice procession through town for that a couple of days. Live on stage music just about every night. Multiple bands some nights. Quite eclectic. Traditional of different types, rock, operatic. Even street rappers. Felt safe all the time. Spent a lot of time just walking around. So many cool old churches in small area.

Durango is great city, and it has grown a lot in the last...
Durango is great city, and it has grown a lot in the last few years. There is more tourism, shopping, pedestrian walk ways filled with shopping, bars and restaurants. Staying downtown in the center of it all is amazing and super convenient whether you go to be a tourist or visit family. Food is delicious, and prices are great! Not to mention it has great weather! Lots of culture to explore - art, music, and lot of history.
Best places to eat - Casablanca Restaurant in their hotel, Gorditas Gambino, and Pollo Napoles. Walking around the plaza was very easy and convenient. However, if you have trouble walking or need wheelchair accessible places, that would be a challenge. Taxis and buses are plenty, and there are many tour buses you can hop on from the plaza itself. Doing the Villas del Oeste was really fun, cheap, and not too far. Wish I had time to do the Cable Car ride and the Durango Historical Double Decker tour. NEXT TIME!
Got a chance to go to a night club - Las Mil y Una Noches! Soooo fun!!! It was an 80's themed club with a live band playing all of the 80's hits from Latin Pop charts. Band was amazing!
If you like shopping, El Mercado is a great place for everything locally made. Lots of shops on the Constitucion street, along the Cathedral has lots of shops as well. I heard the museums are good too, but ran out of time. Durango is a magical city that takes your breath away and takes you back in time to a place that is filled with lots of awesome stories.

I recommend this hotel highly. The rooms are large enough, the staff is always helpful and pleasant to deal with, they make us feel at home and never say no to any need we have. The location is accessible to the highest and to downtown Durango.

Stayed in the centro area.
Stayed in the centro area. People here are not as friendly as other places I've traveled to in Mexico. Some of the drivers are very aggressive be it you are a pedestrian or fellow driver. The air quality is pretty good here surprisingly.
Would never come here again for any reason.

Actually folks - buy an old Colonial House NOW and refurbish it while they're still relatively cheap!
I think Durango will become the next town most adored like San Miguel de Allende. Hey even SMA doesn't have a spectacular highway leading up to it like the "Impossible to Build, Impossible to Maintain" Toll Road over the Devil's Spine of the Sierras. I mean 61 tunnels in 50 miles? 9th Wonder of the World in my opinion.
Completely different from most of Mexico even the people due to it's history and being tucked down away - hard to get to - before the new Toll Road. Even the colorful Indigenous people are different than 200 miles away. Durango - in a Class of it's own!
Does need to add a "Tango Community" with Milangas - then you could attract a whole lot more Expats from USA to retire here. Only downside I can see to Durango - so listen up, make that change!
Fourth time to Durango and finally put my finger on why it's so nice - even in the Summertime. It's at 6100 ft. Elevation which make it 10 degrees F cooler than the Coast - and then add in 10-15% average humidity it makes it "seem" 15 degrees F cooler.
Although it's simple, it is comfortable enough, the staff was helpful, and the breakfast good. Good value for the price. We were there to see the total solar eclipse, and I was impressed at how Durango organized to deal efficiently with the large influx of eclipse viewers. There weren't any traffic problems and they had set up a system of reliable taxis. We had a good experience. Just wish we would have had more time to explore the mountains.
Loved this beautiful hotel. We had the private double room with 2 balconies. Giant room with a great view! The staff was so helpful and sweet. We were able to bring our little dog Ziggy and he loved frisking around the lobby with the house dog, Patrick. A basic breakfast was included in the historic kitchen and there were so many large areas to hang out and relax in. Great location and economical--- I would enjoy staying there for months!
The location is convenient to the airport, but a bit of a hike to downtown. The staff was friendly and the premises are extremely clean, plus there was a safe and iron in the room. The coffee was surprisingly good for hotel coffee, so that gives them good points. Not a great value for the money, but because of the cleanliness, I would overlook the shortcomings and stay again.
We liked Everything! My mom, son and I stayed for 3 nights. Everyone was very polite and courteous. The breakfast was delicious although I think it could be a little more varied. The room and the hotel was very clean.
We enjoyed staying here due to the proximity of the city center, We were able to walk to the plaza daily and take a taxi or uber from there. I also liked that the hotel was spacious, and the bed was comfortable.
I’m used to hostels and since Durango doesn’t have any this was the cheapest option, with a seasonal discount. Great value for money and location, great staff, quite comfortable at least for me 🙂
Did not give Service a top rating - even though all BUT the maids services were EXCELLENT.
One of the reasons we include this in our top 5 Hotels in Mexico = the Service!
The hotel itself is a beautiful work of art , a delight to look at , furnished in a very traditional style. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
