San Agustinillo is a sleepy village where the primary activities are lounging, swimming, surfing, and eating. It seems European/North American expats make up a large proportion of permanent residents, making it difficult to discern who the tourists are, so expect to see high numbers of caucasians. Nearby Mazunte (15 min walk) is slightly larger but is much the same with more dining/shopping options open later into the evening, attracting a younger crowd.

Lovely beach, but waves too big for young children.
Lovely beach, but waves too big for young children. Quiet little town, much mellower then Mazunte. Lots of traffic on the main road. Remember to bring cash - the ATM overcharged us (and many others), and most places only accept cash. I'd definitelty recommend getting out on a boat to see dolphins, turtles, and maybe a whale!

It’s a small pretty town with fun activities and places to visit. It’s a good place to relax and forget about everything else. I’ll recommend visiting the neighbor towns (Puerto Angel, Zipolite, Mazunte, and Ventanilla). Zipolite is a nude beach that has nice hotels, beach-clubs, and restaurants. Ventanilla is fun to see the Crocodiles, horse back ride, and turtles. Mazunte has the turtle museum which is not very good. It’s nice to walk around. Visit Punta cometa.

The beach is very nice.
The beach is very nice. There are some nice restaurants or bars on the street but not so many options and not so living place like mazunte. However, you can easily walk to mazunte and rinconcito street.

This accommodation was 10/10.
This accommodation was 10/10. We rented a scooter for 500mx/day which was easy to travel between the town of Mazunte/Zipolite and San Agustinillo with no issues (day or night). I would highly recommend this stay if you are looking for a little more remote and relaxation. It is a little out of the main town so a scooter was convenient. Otherwise, the hotel will help you getting a cab whenever you need.

San Agustinillo is a peaceful destination on the Mexican Pacific coast of Oaxaca.
The town is clean, safe and friendly. There are plenty of opportunities to practice self care.
This is not a party town. If you look for relaxation and beauty, this is the place to go to!

Had a fantastic stay at the H2O container hotels! We stayed there for three nights in a family suite and it was really nice. The place was really clean and it felt really new. It had all the amenities we needed, even a coffee machine. Every day our bed was made and new coffee beans were added. The pools outside were fantastic, perfect for cooling down on a hot day. We also managed to park our car outside without a problem. The communication with the host was really easy and he gave us suggestions what to do around the area.
This hotel has a beachside and an across the street facility. The beachside rooms are all overlooking the ocean and in my opinion a great value. You can watch the big waves breaking and people surfing plus some sunset views. Our room was clean and large and exactly what we expected. It's not a resort or fancy accommodation, but that is what we were looking for. It has good WFi. Mary restaurants are nearby and it's very easy to hail a Collectivo or Taxi.
What can I say, I booked 5 nights, it was so good that I booked an 4 extra nights and came back at the end of my holiday!
A gorgeous hotel set right on the beach with the most welcoming and homely vibe. As a solo traveller this was so important, and the host Manu made me feel at home from the moment I arrived.
Great food & drinks from Oscar, comfy beds, hot water and good pressure, comfy loungers on the beach. Loved everything, it’s paradise. Thank you!!
It requires a short uphill walk to reach the hotel, but it's not too bad/ If you ask the hotel staff, they'll show you a shortcut. Bring a flashlight for walking back to the hotel at night.
The hotel was very small and felt very private and safe. When you wake up you'll get to see the most beautiful sunrise from your balcony accompanied by birdsong.
The staff didn't speak English, but they were very kind, helpful, friendly, and made me feel at home.
The room was charming and had an incredible view of the ocean. The air conditioner worked well and was necessary for the heat of the day. The room we received was on the side of the hotel which overlooked a road but provided us a private balcony. The staff was friendly and we were very happy with the included breakfast. Hearing the ocean from our room was amazing.
Location fantastic in a wonderful beach. Food offering very poor and inconsistent (on various days: no coffee available; no fresh fruit; unable to make an omelette although on menu etc). This is a relatively new hotel Posada but they don’t seem to understand basic service needs. Room was fine and clean. Staff trying but management lacks experience.
The location was perfect, at the point overlooking two bays. San Agustinillo was a much cleaner beach than Manzute and less of a party town than Zipolite. Perfect in between! The premise was clean, Isabel was helpful and very friendly! The king room with ocean views was large and super comfortable for two people.
Felt surrounded by nature and it was the perfect location. A three minute walk to the beach and restaurants. Pauline, the owner and host was so helpful and had thought of everything to make it a comfortable stay. It was A short walk to a yoga studio.
What a lovely place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Incredibly clean and comfortable cabana, and extremely clean common areas and beach. Everything was so comfortable and service was fantastic. Thank you! Best few days of our trip to Oaxaca.
Beautiful property right on the beach in perfect location in San Agustinillo.
The staff is incredible!
So friendly and helpful.
Jamie, the manager, runs a great operation.
Can’t say enough good things about our stay.
The place is quiet, perfect for a weekend of relaxation. The view and the swimming pool are nice. sometimes the waves in San Agustinillo are too big so having a swimming pool in the hotel is a great option.
Beautiful decoration of the rooms, very friendly and arranging staff, amazing location right on the stunning beach, quiet atmosphere and nice restaurant too in the hotel. Would definitely come again!
San Agustinillo is beautiful and quiet. The cabanas as close to the ocean as it gets, the entire property is on the sand!! The food and drinks were great! Everyone is very friendly.
