Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers, the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples, such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng, sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.

Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Besides being a heritage city it was alive and bustling with excitement at every corner - like walking the streets of Paris.
I loved the river ride at night. Makes one feel like you on the Venice waters ( just not a clean river ).
Their souvenir photos were however very expensive and the tour recording was not clearly understood .
The Melaka Straits mosque was really special.
I would definitely like to be back.
Lots of bargain shopping 🛍️

Navigation around the city is very comfortable with Grab service. Foods are everywhere. People are friendly and no harm for visitors. Clean and well-maintained cities and shopping centers at most places visited.
Eco Tree Hotel is in a central location in Malacca town. If you self-drive its great because you can access all points of interest. The room (718) was comfy for a twin sharing room. All amenities provided. Small issue - light bulbs in the room located above ceiling were blown. Not an inconvenience but attention to these details will certainly make the guests stay more pleasant. The in-room bathroom facility was good, clean and powerful shower. I will certainly make this a stay should I visit Malacca again.
The locality is the best. Just a few steps away from the car park is jonker street. In fact the buildings along the road in front of the hotel offers so much of world heritage to the tourists. St. Paul Hill, Stadthuys building, A formosa and Malacca River are just within walking distance. Tourists can get almost everything in 5km radius.
P/s: The stuffs are polite, very friendly and informative.
The hotel was in a good location accessible to shopping mall and eateries. My family is very happy with the room size and the cleaniness. Communication with the host on the process of checking in was very smooth. I am very happy their response were very quick and prompt which is very important to me. Will definitely consider to stay here again if I drop by Malacca in future.
It was a perfect stay. Plenty of parking space, not too crowded. Well-mannered customer service. Will definitely come and stay here if we come to Malacca. Spacious room with a good view. Even though the building may look old fashioned, I can say that the interior design was acceptable. Overall, good, satisfied and worth every penny. Thumbs up, Bayview Hotel Melaka.
The hotel looks new and very clean. Staff are friendly and always answer our queries with smile and courteous. The location isn't too crowded. Can reach city centre and tourist spots within 10 minutes of walking. The historical well, Malacca riverside near Kg Melayu and the Shore is accessible nearby. Non halal eateries/food court is right in front.
Very zen and cozy vibe, loved the interiors of the hotel and rooms. Location was perfect to reach nearby attractions by foot. The river suites were spacious with a great view of the malacca river and the bath tub jacuzzi was the best part! Complimentary bath bomb and bubble gel were included which was very thoughtful of the hotel’s side.
the room is clean and comfortable. i booked 2 studios and got the connected units which make the rooms look bigger when then connected door is open. The location of the hotel is also an added bonus where connected to bih H&M store, Dataran Pahlawan Mall and walking distance to Mahkota Parade and other main attractions in Bandar Hilir.
Truly cherish the Malaccan hospitality, friendly & warm staff. Appreciate the extra mile they went to make my overnight stay as pleasant as possible. The city view from the 22nd floor was breathtaking. Buffet breakfast spread was sumptuous -- only wished the hotel had served Melaka's Asam Pedas.
Spacious room, It was a wonderful view especially at night & sunset, staff were all helpful and friendly, delicious food all around town, & smooth check in and check outs. Room is clean and aircond is super cold. One of the best hotels in Malacca. I had a great time here!
The staff at the hotel was all helpful and courteous. Carpark has security and to park at level 3 that has a connecting bridge to the hotel lift lobby. Convenient to the nearby malls. To go to Mahkota Parade have to go through Hatten Hotel.
I love the panoramic view of Strait of Malacca from hotel window. On good days you can see few ships pass through.
Its walking distance to Sopping complexes and eateries. This time around I did not eat at hotel's food outlet.
The hotel is very clean and recommended for those who wish to walking distance to Jonker walk and enjoy the malacca river with cruise. Only takes 10 minutes walking. Quiet environment as well.
hotel decor is nice, room with a window had nice lighting, rooms were nicely fitted out, location very convenient for malacca sightseeing, very close to the baba museum
location is very convenient and room is very clean and very comfortable, even better than some of the hotels we have stayed in Malacca, smart tv is a nice addition
The room was clean and the location of the hotel was near to the town so it was easy for us to travel to reach the Malacca Town. The staffs were good too.
