The owner is such a great person! Rooms were clean and comfortable. We asked for a room with hot shower and he quickly helped us. He is very knowledgeable about the area and we also toured with him to the Canyon, which is highly recommended (don't go without a guide..). High value for the price you pay and highly recommended! And as an extra.. He picked up every piece of trash he found thrown around the canyon. He really cares about nature, which is heart warming to see.

The bed was very comfortable and the WiFi worked very well during our stay. Breakfast was very tasty and freshly cooked. Free, secure parking was available a short walk away.

NetherlandsAs backpackers, we paid a bit more than usual to stay in hostal San José, but the facilities are definitely worth the extra bucks. The room is big and comfortable, the bathroom beautiful with a hot shower (!), the common area is very nice as well. The staff is incredibly helpful and the tour we booked with them to the Canyon Somoto was great value. The free breakfast is also better than almost all places we stayed in Nicaragua. We even had a little terrasse outside our room to relax and have a smoke. It is not a cheap place to stay for poor travellers like ourselves, but if you have to shelter extra money for a nice accommodation, I would recommend this hostel easily.

La idea de un hostal familiar, donde puedan descansar con los mejores servicios, nació luego de ver cómo crecían las visitas al Cañón de Somoto y conocer de otros destinos turísticos en el Municipio y el departamento de Madriz.
Soy periodista deportivo y mi pasión, una de ellas, es la fotografía, la que combino con el turismo y el deporte.
Nos ubicamos en el Sector 4 de Somoto, un barrio tranquilo, de mucha historia. Estamos a 300 metros de la Iglesia Católica, del Parque Central, y cerca de algunas discotecas y bares. Tenemos una linda vista de la Montaña Tepecsomoto, así como otras que nos rodean.
