Enschede isn't the tourist hotspot of other places in Holland but the old town is beautiful with lots of places to eat and drink. The new town blends nicely and is immaculately clean. Driving is easy plus the train network is great and easy to use. Germany and its delights are only five minutes away but best of all, the locals are lovely. Hire a bike and get around in this rider friendly town much easier. The Rijksmuseum, though not a patch on the one in Amsterdam is worth a visit though a bit pricey. Lovely place to visit but don't expect too much as its quite a small town.

I did not eat at the place.
I did not eat at the place. I ate in town - bought take-aways when I needed to.
It helps to ask others for directions - it helps as the places are not easy to find generally.
I would avoid booking into places that are not confirmed as hotels or doing background checks on the place advertised. Hostel Enschede is false advertising unfortunately

Great place but way too few accomodation options!!!
Great place but way too few accomodation options!!! This drives the price up and doesn't give visitors much choice. Very disappointing in this regard but the city is terrific. Well be back (but will have to book accomodation VERY early it seems).

Enschede is a very clean town which has a very good local bus network and trains to other areas of Holland. We visited the large market on Saturday and it was very popular and the street market food Was excellent . There were plenty of cafes and restaurants. Of course there were plenty of bikes as everyone seems to have one. Many lovely old buildings and churches open to the public.

We didn't visit the town as it was a one night hotel stop over, but the view from the balcony was interesting and i am sure the town has much to offer. The hotel and town are well connected by motorways making it easy to get to and just over an hour to Amsterdam.

Well, Enschede is a city that punches well above it's size...
Well, Enschede is a city that punches well above it's size concerning shopping, as many Germans from across the border like to shop there as well. The market on Saturday is especially well visited. Another day tourist magnet are the coffee shops. There is a whole lot of culture going on as well, especially music, but also cinema. There are two cinemas right in the city center which we like to visit to watch English language films, as the Dutch don't usually dub movies but show them with subtitles. It's not a city you would visit without having a specific reason in mind first, as there is not much in terms of sightseeing, but, as luck would have it, Enschede can provide plenty of reasons to visit
I stayed there for two nights. The host Francesco is a rare person: very gentle and friendly. It was the first time for me in the Netherlands and Francesco even helped me giving some advices about Enschede and the local life. As visible in the photos, there is also a cooking area in your room, so you can also cook by yourself. Anyways, you will not probably use it, since the location is strategic: right in the central zone of the city, above the host's Italian bakery and 5 mins far from Enschede central railway station.
Very nice farmhouse, located in a green and peaceful area, about 15 min from Enschede city center, by car. Supermarkets and restaurants easy to reach by car. We had all the comfort , rooms are small but with everything we needed and beautifully designed. Very good quality of beds and pillows, quite rare:) Bonus netflix and an outside terrace.I hope to visit again.
The apartment is lovely, exactly what you'd need for a few days of exploring Enschede and the surroundings. Super nicely decorated, clean and well equipped. It is close to the city centre and easy accessible. There's the surprising and cool aspect of it being located in an actual former school. Also, the owner was very friendly and accommodating. Thank you!
The location of the hotel was very close to the train station and city center of Enschede. A quite clean and well organized hotel. It was supper silent. It managed unmanned and no reception but very helpfull and responsible customer service who answer the requests properly. Location is close to the best restaurants of Enschede and suppermarket.
A great hotel in a nice location, if not a little isolated. Staff were friendly throughout my stay and the property was clean and tidy. The restaurant seemed a little unorganised on arrival for dinner but I think this was the sheer volume of guests at one time as this quickly got better.
I’d definitely stay here again when I’m the area.
Location is walking distance from the old town, restaurants, museums and train station.
The idea of converting an old industrial building into a hotel is creative.
The design of the building - as far as visible - is contemporary and esthetically pleasant.
The phone to call for assistance worked quickly.
A very nice place to stay in lovely Enschede. Very cosy room with private bathroom, tea, coffee and etc is at the guest’s disposal, all is impeccably clean. The host is a very nice gentleman and is always there to help and support. Walking distance to city center and major places of interest / shopping.
Nice staff that helped us during the night fixing food and keeping open after some local hooligans, the mayor and police all tried their best to give us Swedish football fans the worst possible experience in Enschede, nice that the hotel made us feel more welcome!
It is an exceptional nice place, 5 km from Enschede (need a car or a bike). wonderful, recently renovated small house - perfect for a couple, really nice atmosphere. Edwin is a great host - absolutely recommendable!
Really nice, clean and cosy place! Close to the city center and University of Twente, which was perfect for me. The outside sitting areas was also a huge pro!
