FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Center with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Lights District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveler might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cozy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the center of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

The ppl are great. Ppl from all over the world.

The ppl are great. Ppl from all over the world. I heard Spanish , Italian, German, English, Dutch and I think Chinese spoken in the streets. Many ethnic restaurants. I had a great steak and wine at an Argentinean place. I did not make it to Chinatown, but there is one, and the locals said the food was good there. I liked the open air small boat canal tour. I have also done the larger enclosed boats too. Smaller open is better to me if the weather is good.

As a wheelchair user, getting around can be difficult partly...

As a wheelchair user, getting around can be difficult partly because of the many cobbled streets which give you a (very, in some squares) rough ride, but also surprisingly narrow lifts in public buildings and Amsterdam Centraal. (Accessibility to many shops, bars and restaurants is limited by steps from street, or narrow access.) People and staff in museums generally helpful though. Trams are excellent for wheelchair users (all have ramps, but fitted by the conductor where there isn’t level access, not automatic) though people (tourists, not locals?) often don’t make way for you to get on without being told to by the conductor or block your access to the wheelchair door. Beware of tourists on hired bikes: the locals stop to let you cross roads (usually with a smile) they often don’t! Narrow pavements (and guided tourist groups!)—not many dropped kerbs in Amsterdam, though some pavements are only a couple of cm high, but that’s still a bit teeth-rattling—mean you often have to go on the street; be careful: ‘drive’ like the cars, on the right! Lights fore and aft on your wheels are helpful, and essential at night!

We really enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam.

We really enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam. We pre booked our tickets to the Anne Frank House, which was really well worth visiting. We also pre booked tickets to the Rijksmuseum, which was very enjoyable. The canal cruise was lovely and was a great way to hear more history of the city. The Public Library is massive and has great facilities there. Taxis are expensive, but it was very easy to walk from place to place. We used Uber when going to the airport and that worked out cheaper.

If you have children plan for 2 days, but bear in mind it is quite an expensive city. Utrecht is only a 50 minute train ride, and equally as nice. For UK people - If Amsterdam is fats and busy like London, Utrecht is quiet and quirky like York.

Rooms look exactly like the pictures! They've got a very cool chilled vibe in the hotel. There's a metro stop about 3 minutes walk from the front door. You can jump on the train and be in amsterdam city centre within 10 mins. So absolutely excellent of you want to stay outside the centre but be able to be in dam square within 10 mins of leaving your hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were lovely. We travelled as a couple and we are 35 yrs old so.

Location is perfect, in the canal district, everything within walkable distance and so many boutique shops nearby. Hotel lounge/bar is very beautiful and so are the rooms. There is also a super cute cat in the hotel lobby to greet guests! I guess she’s the manager? I rubbed her belly everyday. :) I have stayed at quite a few hotels in Amsterdam over the years, from $300/night to $1500/night places. This is arguably THE best hotel for VALUE.
