This cosy, comfortable home offers guests a tranquil stay with beautiful gardens and the most amazing sea view — so close you feel like you could almost touch it. Relax outside in the seating area with your morning coffee as tūī and bellbirds sing, or watch the sunrise or sunset over the water. The home is styled with natural, calming touches and offers thoughtful amenities, including a well-stocked kitchenette (yes, we are foodies here, so understand what you need to be self-sufficient); comfy beds, a great shower and other small details to enhance your experience. Just 10 minutes to Tahauna Beach, 5 minutes to the town centre, it’s the perfect base for rest, reflection, and enjoying the beauty of the sea and mountains.
Kia ora! I’m a proud 6th-generation Kiwi, originally from the beautiful North Island, and have been based in the South Island for the last 30 years. We welcome our guests to stay in a separate living area in our beautiful home. Now that the children have left, there is a lovely renovated space downstairs for our guests. It's a very separate private space, and the only common area is the walk-through from the car park, past our lounge, to access the steps downstairs to the guest area. We are private and do not bother our guests unless they ask for assistance, and we are happy to help. Hosting guests from all over the world is a wonderful experience, and we do our best to ensure our guests have a relaxed, pleasant and enjoyable kiwi experience in a beautiful part of the South Island.
The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful — no through traffic, just the gentle hum of birdsong and the occasional sound of traffic (depending on how the wind blows). It’s a safe, secure spot where families, retirees, and professionals all enjoy a relaxed lifestyle surrounded by nature. We’re tucked in between the hills and the sea, with a beautiful view of our naturally formed boulder bank. Nelson’s Boulder Bank, which stretches 13 kilometres from MacKay Bluff to the man-made Cut in Nelson’s harbour is a unique and unusual landform, comprised of a rock known as granodiorite, which comes from MacKay Bluff.
