The room is cosy and made up with linen, pillows, duvets and hot-water bottle (if needed) are provided. In these uncertain times Halfmoon Cottage can accommodate maximum of 6 guest and is self catering, Guests provide their own breakfast and meals. Shared fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining area. Everything is in place for self catering. Pots, pans, tea towels, cooker with oven and microwave. There is always coffee and tea available for the guests. Guest can go into the garden and use the fresh herbs they can find.

We are Margo and Cornelius, proud owners of Halfmoon Cottage since 2015. We arrived in October 2014 and helped the previous owners for one season, learning the inns and outs of Halfmoon Cottage. Originally from the Netherlands and quite some travel experience in our backpacks. While traveling in New Zealand we always stayed in a backpackers / guesthouse as Halfmoon Cottgae. We love to meet other travelers and share travel experiences. Get inns and outs about local activities, how to explore the most in the area. We love to share our travel knowledge with our guest to increase the joy of their stay. In a bit of spare time we love to go for a hike or a good ride on our push bike. We live on site of halfmoon cottage and will be available for any questions that our guests may have about most things, or about activities in the surrounding area as walks, swimming with dolphins, nature cruise and so on and on..... Bikes are for free available at Halfmoon Cottage. It is also possible to go for a kayak trip ( for a fee) preferably in early morning. Kayaks not available on day of check out. Check with Cornelius.

Halfmoon Cottage is a one and a half hour drive from Christchurch Airport. Follow State Highway 75. Pass Little River and stop at Hilltop; the view is there spectacular. You will follow the road down Hill again. When you see the sign Barry's Bay you will pass the Cheese factory in 500 meters, 300 meters further you will see Halfmoon Cottage on your left. Coming from Akaroa, 12 km drive, Halfmoon Cottage is on your right in Barry's Bay approx 300 meter before the Cheese Factory. Bus stops at the Cheese factory or at the gate when you ask the driver. The cheese factory in Barry's Bay - The Winery in French Farm or the Alpaca Farm in French Farm are in easy reach from Halfmoon Cottage or just walk to the Onawe Pa for beautiful views. In the next bay Duvauchelle we have a general store for some daily groceries, you can have a meal or coffee as well. And we have the Duvauchelle Hotel, a nice pub were you can have a good meal or just a nice drink.
