The Cottage was superb, quiet, comfortable, cosy and clean. This is a real gem and we would definitely stay again. All the extra touches made our stay perfect. The night sky was breathtaking, crisp clean nights for perfect star gazing. Jane and Doug are exceptional hosts, so accommodating and helpful. Great ambassadors for the local area.

We love it here! it’s super clean and spacious with good amenities. The cottage has beautiful view and is very quiet. The owner prepared Fruit, Bread, Milk, Bacon even a bottle of wine for us. We feel very welcomed.

Beverley literally thought of everything! The surroundings were beautiful and the spa bath was the perfect way to unwind. We also really appreciated the amazing breakfast that included bacon and eggs!

Beautiful 4km beach with very few people on it out of main holiday season - soft white sand and easy access. Matarangi itself is limited in facilities but there is a cafe, 4 Square, bottle shop (high end choices too, but definitely not cheap) golf club & restaurant. Close/easy access to plenty of other stunning beaches and not far from Coromandel town. Luke's Kitchen at Kuaotunu is a must visit for great pizza and other superb food with a huge boutique (and local) beer selection. Plenty of beaches but really you'd be happy with only Matarangi beach, and the option of the inlet for calm-water activities like SUP/windsurfing/kayaking etc. Probably heaven for anyone into golf, but for us its main attraction is a great beach getaway - likely busy in season but peaceful out of season (doesn't just shut up shop like some other resorts though).

Nice little community.
Nice little community. Mainly exists around the golf club and some beaches. Very quite and relaxing. The only drawbacks are: 1) lack of activities (pretty much only golf, cycling, walking and swimming) and 2) places to eat out (realistically, only two cafes/bars).

Matarangi is a sleepy but upmarket beachside town with a stunning forest reserve right on the beach. There are lots of lovely walks around and some beautiful bird sanctuaries. We took a drive to gorgeous New Chums Beach which was a highlight of our visit. The woodfired pizzas from the golf club was very nice.
