Our stay at Mt Michaels was just perfect . The hosts were really welcoming and very accommodating . Everything was perfect . We thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon by the pool side and the Spa was very relaxing . Thank you Fiona and Alister . Your local knowledge helped us explore local gems . We will be back

This must be the most exclusive and luxurious Bed and Breakfast venue on the South Island in an area of outstanding beauty. The quality and style of everything is exceptional and we were treated as house guests rather than "clients", which made our stay special.

Alistair and Fiona were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was excellent and Fiona cooked to order and Alistair made great coffee. We had our own private spa pool. A bonus was the family Lakeland Terrier, Cooper, who is great fun.

  • Interested in coming in early September. Where do you bike from your property? Can you take bikes to the new bike trail? Is trout fishing in lake or surrounding rivers? Is fishing dry fly or nymph? .
    Bikes are for use around the local area. To hire a bike for the day I would suggest using Bike It now at $55 per day. Fishing both Nymph and dry fly in lake and surrounding rivers is excellent.

  • Hi - do you have electric bikes we could use ? Also we want to do the Dunstan bike trail on 1 January - how do you recommend we are best to do this
    Hi we only have regular bikes which guests use to ride around the lake. I suggest either Bike it now in Cromwell or The Rail Trail in Clyde to organise an electric bike for the Dunstan trail

Company info

Fiona has a passion for cooking . Her food philosophy is fresh and seasonal and likes to show case the local produce in the area. Both Alistair and Fiona have traveled extensively along with living in both Asia and Australia for a number of years. They are now enjoying sharing their love of New Zealand with guests from around the world. Alistair is both a keen fisherman and enjoys gardening.

Mt Michael Lodge is set in an award winning vineyard overlooking Lake Dunstan surrounded by ever changing magical views in all directions. A private retreat. A place to relax and rejuvenate while exploring Central Otago New Zealand.

Neighborhood info

Lake Dunstan is situated half way between Queenstown and Wanaka. The area is quickly being known for its fine wine - specifically Pinot Noir - both large and boutique vineyards can be explored with a 10 minute drive. Lake Dunstan has exceptional fishing along with other water sports. Numerous walks in the area - including a short walk up the 45th parallel from the property. Excellent local golf course Highland world class motor sport track Heart of the Central Otago biking rail trail Helicopter rides Skiing during winter months Nature on the door step in all directions
