This is a family run motel with very friendly and informative owners. It looks like you are pulling into someone's home, but the motel is hidden behind. The room was large and lovely with a full kitchen, and even had a jacuzzi. The beds were super comfortable. The town of Hokatika is a seaside gem with beach walks and colorful rocks. The town is small enough to walk about, but large enough to have all the services available and interesting shops.

Not only is Stopforth's the best motel in Hokitika, their service was outstanding. We had come from less salubrious accommodation so it was 'pure luxury'. Lovely big room, big comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Enjoyed the beautiful smelling amenities also. I had a bit of a mountain bike accident and Sonja the owner drove out to find me in a van so she could bring me and my bike back. It turned out I needed an ambulance but Sonja used to be a First Responder so she took charge and I was very well looked after. So not only was Sonja the perfect host (with a great sense of humour) but if anything goes wrong healthwise, you'll be in great hands. So if we come back, we'll definitely be staying at Stopforths. Highly recommend.
