We stayed for two nights either side of doing the Rakiura great walk on Stewart island (something every Kiwi should do). The motel is great value, very large room, huge comfy bed, great shower pressure, great selection of tv and media viewing and full kitchen. What we enjoyed the most though was the warm, friendly, down to earth southern hospitality of the hosts. On the day of our last nights booking the ferry back from stewart island was cancelled in the last minute which was going to be a disaster for us. But a quick call with James at the motel and he said he would ferry our stored luggage to the airport the next day and cancel our booking for the night free of charge. Which was a really nice offer and helped us greatly. Luckily though, we managed to organise a chartered flight and made it back for the night to a hot shower, hot meal and comfy bed . We would happily stay at tower lodge again and fully recommend it.

The hotel owner enthusiastically introduced the surrounding attractions. When he knew that we were going to Dunedin after checking out, the map recommended the attractions worth stopping on the way. The hotel rooms are clean and sanitary, with complete facilities. It is worth recommending.

A very tidy unit with tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfy and it was cool to just wander across the road to look at the old water tower. The owner was so helpful providing us with information and maps to help us on the rest of our journey.
